Crash Bandicoot 4 PS5 Upgrade Issues Fixed | Game Rant

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time hit PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X a few days ago, bringing the marsupial’s latest platforming adventure to the next-generation of hardware. However, some PlayStation 5 players had to wait a little longer to hop into the latest Crash game on their new consoles, with a bug cropping up that prevented PlayStation 4 owners of the game from upgrading their copy.

Yesterday, Activision fixed the frustrating issue, posting on Twitter that PlayStation 4 players should now be able to redeem the enhanced version of the game via their PlayStation 5 consoles. For those still encountering issues with the upgrade, they’re advised to reach out to the company’s support team for further assistance.

The now-fixed bug saw an error message occur when players attempted to access the digital PS5 upgrade, telling them the presence of a Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time “Tracker” was preventing them from accessing their copy. It’s led to frustration over the last few days, as Activision’s Support team has attempted to figure out the underlying cause of the problem and deliver a fix. Now that it’s done, players with a corresponding PlayStation 4 copy should be able to make their way over to the game’s PlayStation 5 page and redeem it for free.

Alongside its recent next-generation debut on PS5 and Xbox Series X, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time has also made its debut on the Nintendo Switch, making the platforming adventure playable on the go. It joins the last two Crash Bandicoot releases – Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fuelled – in joining the console’s vast library of portable games. The title will also be making its debut on PC later this month, joining Blizzard’s Battle.Net service. The decision has already been a controversial one with PC players, who have long criticized the Activison-owned storefront for its always-online requirements for single-player games.

Regardless, fans seem excited that the latest iteration of the Crash Bandicoot saga has made its way to more platforms. For those who didn’t play its original PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release, It’s About Time follows Dr Neo Cortex and Dr N.Tropy breaking free from their intergalactic prison by ripping a hole in the space-time continuum. Crash, Coco, and Aku Aku must once again set out on a platforming adventure to stop their dastardly foes, teaming up with an array of magical masks as they travel through different dimensions and realities. The sequel was celebrated as a return to form for the series at release, with critics praising its challenging gameplay and deep understanding of what made the franchise tick.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with a PC port coming on March 26.
