As fans prepare themselves for the third entry of Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer series, the developer isn’t done yet with Total War: Warhammer 2. With Total War: Warhammer 3 still months away, Creative Assembly is adding more content to Warhammer 2 that will transfer over, making sure players will get the biggest Total War experience yet.
Creative Assembly confirmed a new lord for Total War: Warhammer 2 yesterday alongside the announcement that it will be free to all players. After giving fans a bit of time to ponder how the new legendary lord will play within the giant world of Warhammer, some new information has sweetened the deal.
The new legendary lord will be an iconic figure within the lore of Fantasy Warhammer, as a Dark Elf favorite finally takes to the battlefield. Beastlord Rakarth of Karond Kar will introduce a new and heavy focus on the creatures under control of the Dark Elves, but his voice will add some much needed flair. Welsh actor Iwan Rheon will be voicing Rakarth providing some heavy talent that will be heard throughout the battles.
The news of Rheon being Rakarth’s voice actor will come as a pleasant surprise for fans of fantasy television. Rheon is best known as Ramsay Bolton from HBO’s Game of Thrones series. Bolton was considered one of the more noted villains to grace Game of Thrones, which is a series filled with some detestable characters. So considering the previous role Rheon brought to life, his casting as Rakarth seems like a perfect match. To best illustrate this, Creative Assembly did give a taste of Rheon in the role.
Based on the teaser uploaded on the official Total War YouTube channel, Rheon is already proving his chops in voicing a high-ranking Dark Elf. Despite the description of the video nudging fans with a “Who does that sound like…Any Guesses?” it wasn’t long until some made the match. Unfortunately for those wanting more, they will have to wait until March 18 to hear Rheon fully embrace the role as Rakarth joins Total War: Warhammer 2.
While this new lord release might seem strange to players interested in trying out Total War: Warhammer with the upcoming sequel, they should think of Rakarth’s introduction as adding more to an already massive framework. Total War: Warhammer 3, like Warhammer 2 before it, will feature all the previously released content from the prior titles as added through an update. This means all the lords, races, maps, and campaigns will carry over to Warhammer 3 meaning the already giant map will have much more land to conquer.
So even if fans are not prepped to hear Rheon deliver some snarky Dark Elf insults in Total War: Warhammer 2, he will still be present in Warhammer 3 later this year.
Total War: Warhammer 2 is available now on PC.
