Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been a major hit since launching late last year. During its first week on the market, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla broke multiple records for the series by selling the most units in one week and having the biggest PC launch of any title. That success has continued to this day following multiple updates, and now Ubisoft is thanking fans with a free community reward that many should immediately recognize.
The patch notes for today’s Update 1.2.0 released yesterday, confirming Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was getting armor Transmog among other features – allowing players to change the aesthetic appearance of their armor without affecting its stats. This kind of system has also been featured in series like Monster Hunter, ensuring players can use powerful armor that also appears how they prefer. Transmog functionality comes right on time for those who want to use the newly released Godly Reward to their advantage.
Headlining the Godly Reward set is an outfit based on Altair, protagonist of the original Assassin’s Creed game who would appear in multiple entries to follow. While the franchise focuses its attention on different assassins throughout history, Altair has become something of a mascot for the games, to the point that an Altair Mii Fighter costume appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Also available as part of this free set in the Animus Store are 300 Opals and Yule Festival rewards, according to a post by the Assassin’s Creed Twitter account. However, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players have reported receiving an error when trying to redeem the Godly Reward, and the developers are looking into this. “We’ll be sure to share updates as investigations continue,” the Twitter account said.
Fans of the franchise going back to its roots in 2007 should be happy to see Altair return for the Viking-themed adventure in some capacity, though this isn’t the only way Ubisoft has paid homage to previous games. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla added limited-time Black Flag items last month, providing new customization options for the River Raid mode. This giveaway ended on February 23, but as of this writing it isn’t clear whether the Godly Reward will become unavailable in the near future.
The aforementioned River Raids mode was added in a free update last month as one part of the game’s extensive content roadmap. Ubisoft has promised that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will have longer post-launch support than Odyssey, with a number of DLC expansions planned. Hopefully future additions like the free Altair outfit will come to the game marred by less technical problems.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
