Destruction AllStars was the latest in a long line of games released first on PlayStation Plus, following in the footsteps of popular online titles such as Rocket League and Fall Guys. Although the game failed to make quite the same impact, the team behind the online vehicular combat title is continuing to build the game in response to community feedback, promising to add plenty of fresh content in the months to come.
The early stages of that promise were established today, as Lucid Games’ Community Manager George Rule unveiled the first of multiple seasons coming to Destruction AllStars in the future via the PlayStation Blog. Alongside the news, a roadmap was posted that offered a closer look at exactly when players can expect future seasons to air, with it looking as though there will be three significant content drops during 2021.
The first season, titled “Hot Shots,” will launch next month, bringing several all-new additions to the game. It will eventually be replaced in July by a second season, which will stick around until September, at which time a third season will air through to December. Although fans know a lot about the first season of the game, the subsequent two content drops are a complete mystery, with the road map not sharing any clues as to what could be coming to the title. That being said, considering what’s being implemented through the Hot Shots add-on, it seems wise to imagine there will be new drivers and multiplayer modes.
For those who missed the news on the first season, it will add several fun features. The biggest addition appears to be a fresh AllStar, which Lucid Games promises will come with their own Hero Vehicle and special abilities. Unfortunately, the team isn’t ready to share the identity of the character just yet, claiming more will be revealed closer to Hot Shots’ release. There will also be a brand new competitive match type that the studio likens to a ranked mode. Titled Blitz, it will pit four teams of three against each other, with Lucid Games claiming it will provide further details at a later date.
There will also be a free and a premium battle pass, allowing players to gain cosmetic items exclusive to any given season regardless of whether or not they’re investing money. Finally, a photo mode will be added, allowing players in single-player mode to grab screenshots with greater ease. The game will be removed from PlayStation Plus on April 6, costing $20 to purchase. Players can also pick up a Digital Deluxe Edition of the game that sports an array of exclusive items.
Destruction AllStars is out now on PlayStation 5.
