Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 is finally here and with it comes new challenges, weapons, and even fishes that can be obtained through fishing spots. Fishing is a fairly new mechanic that was first introduced in Chapter 2 Season 1 back in 2019, along with the ability for players to swim and drive motorboats. In season 6, though, there’s a new fish that players can catch and it’s a Cuddle Fish.
Fishing can be done via fishing rods or harpoon guns, which are easy to find, and then finding a spot where a fish is. Players can tell that a fish is in the water if there’s a small ripple effect happening. Cuddle Fish can be found in these fishing spots and can later be used for help in combat encounters later on during a Fortnite match.
Catching fish is done pretty similarly to other video games with fishing in them; cast the lure, wait until the bobber dips in the water or moves a little, and then go ahead and attempt to reel it in. If players would like to throw fish back in the water for whatever reason, they can do so by equipping the fish and then literally toss it back in.
As for what Cuddle Fish can do, they’re actually pretty useful for dealing damage to opponents. Once a Cuddle Fish has been caught, it’ll show up in the player’s inventory right beside the other weapons and items. Once equipped, players can throw them at people, and the fish will stick to the enemy for a few seconds before it explodes. The explosion will cause a small amount of damage to players hit by it, and though it’s not terribly strong, it can prove to be helpful if a player is in a tight spot.
The latest season of Fortnite kicked off yesterday with an epic cinematic trailer featuring Jonesey and other characters that have made it into Fortnite like Master Chief and Ryu from Street Fighter. As the season progresses, there are sure to be new skins, activities, challenges, and much more for players to check out. Fans can already start working on the new battle pass to unlock the new Lara Croft Tomb Raider skins, which has three different variants.
Since the theme is “primal” this time around, players should expect for there to be new skins based around that. There are plenty of video game and other pop culture franchises that Epic Games can pull from, so it’ll be interesting to see what characters make it into the game.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
