From the moment Super Nintendo World was announced, the imagination of Nintendo fans ran wild. Nintendo has given fans so much in terms of pure joy within the world of video games, so there is no telling what it could create within a theme park for enthusiasts to explore. Unfortunately–thanks partially to the reality of a pandemic world–Super Nintendo World’s opening was delayed multiple times. But all is well that ends well, as Super Nintendo World has finally opened.
After the various unfortunate delays, Nintendo finally revealed that Super Nintendo World would open on Thursday, March 18th in Japan, which is today. The theme park has finally ceremoniously opened, and even Shigeru Miyamoto has arrived to celebrate the big day, along with Mario and Luigi, of course.
Along with the excitement of finally opening Super Nintendo World, there will certainly be some challenges as well for Nintendo. Japan has had some strict governing when it comes to COVID-19, which is why the theme park has been delayed with its opening, so Universal Studios Japan and Nintendo will need to walk a tight rope. Additionally, much of the activities have to do with physical activity and device touching, which will be interesting to navigate. However, it is a joy to many to finally see the park open.
Leading up to the opening of Super Nintendo World, Shigeru Miyamoto gave a tour of Super Nintendo World, which provided all of the hype that Nintendo fans needed to sell them on the theme park experience. It was not too long afterward that the park was delayed again, unfortunately, but Miyamoto was at the park again when the doors opened, and it has been obvious throughout the process that his fingerprints have been all over the Super Nintendo World experience.
