Fortnite Season 6 officially kicked off a couple of days ago, introducing a host of new skins and cosmetics for players to earn through the Battle Pass. The battle royale has practiced the tradition of adding character skins from popular video games for a while now, sometimes hiding them as bundles in the Season Pass. Like the Predator from Season 5, Brazilian football star Neymar Jr. is the Battle Pass skin for Season 6.
While players won’t need to craft powerful weapons and gear in preparation of a hunt or tedious boss fight, there will be a set of challenges to be completed in order to get hands-on with the skilled athlete. The challenges aren’t live yet, but once they are, players can follow these basic instructions to get a quick head start on unlocking Neymar Jr.
To unlock the Neymar Jr. skin in Fortnite, players will simply need to navigate to the Battle Pass screen and scroll to the Neymar Jr. tab, which will show players the challenges when added. Over the course of the season, players can complete these one by one in order to unlock the Neymar Jr. skin. Once unlocked, players will simply need to claim the skin from the tab.
According to Twitter user and Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, there’s a set release time for players to begin working towards unlocking Neymar’s skin. 43 days from the day of the major update, the Neymar skin is set to drop mid-season as part of the Battle Pass on April 28th, 2021.
There aren’t many details beyond that, but what’s really cool about Neymar Jr. being added to the game is the fact that he’s Fortnite‘s first real-life athlete. While the battle royale has incorporated jerseys from the NFL or soccer clubs in the past, this is the first time that players get to play as actual sports star.
A few Fortnite players in the comment section were disappointed and even completely unaware of who the Brazilian icon was prior to the announcement, instead hoping for a member of the Foundation. On the other hand, as said by Twitter user Danielcg123, the soccer player has many fans in his home country and serves as an icon for being the first Brazilian in the iconic game.
In any case, Neymar Jr. will be competing with the likes of Lara Croft among other well-known video game characters, not to mention any upcoming crossovers that dataminers might uncover over the coming months.
Fortnite is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
