Genshin Impact is taking inspiration from a classic Japanese game genre with one of its newest events. The new Hangouts questlines are chances for the Traveler to get to know some Genshin Impact characters, leading to different endings, much like Japanese visual novel games. This guide will explain the which important dialogue options correlate with which endings.
While each Genshin Impact character has a backstory, most don’t get an in-depth look in gameplay, especially the four-stars. While Zhongli and Tartaglia may have seen a lot of screentime in the past as they tied into the storylines, Bennett and the other four-star characters in the Genshin Impact Hangouts quests have not. The goal of the hangouts is to navigate through 6 different story paths, some leading to the “best” endings. But players will want to see all of the endings regardless as they each offer rewards, and they don’t take too long to complete.
To start off, players will need two use two keys to unlock the Pyro character‘s first act, Fantastic Voyage, which can be collected by doing daily tasks. Additionally, checkpoints in Bennett’s timeline can be used to start at certain points and forgo entire conversations.
The first ending, Fruitless Anticipation, is easily achievable. Simply visit Bennett in Mondstadt and have a conversation with him. Fans of Japanese visual novels will know that certain dialogue options unlock specific endings. Here, to get the Fruitless Anticipation ending, when Bennett says “I don’t want to get you into any trouble, so just let me watch from the sidelines…” Respond with “We could just do something else instead.” Later, in the same conversation, after he asks where the Traveler wants to go, reply with “How about we hang out around town?”
For the second ending, Hasty Farewell, the Genshin Impact Traveler will initiate the same conversation, but answer the second question above with “How about a walk in the wild?”
Similarly, to get the third ending, Taste Tester Royce, answer Bennett’s first question above with “Sure! Let’s go on an adventure!” Then, he’ll ask if the Traveler normally makes food before adventuring; answer with, “I do!” Then, the traveler will need to collect some ingredients and cook up a meal in Genshin Impact. They’ll need 1 Radish, 1 Mint, and 1 Slime Condensate. Later on, when inside the Domain, answer his question “So, what do you think?” with, “You cooked it, you can do whatever you want with it.”
The fourth ending, Ready to Make Sacrifices, follows the same dialogue options as Ending 3 until the Traveler gets to the Domain. Reply with his question “So, what do you think?” with, “No way. You don’t owe him anything,” instead.
To get the fifth ending, No Wonder It’s a Top-Class Commission, go back to the first conversation with Bennett and tell him “Sure! Let’s go on an adventure!” However, when he asks about food, this time say, “No, I usually leave straight away.” Then, Bennett will take the Traveler to a new Domain. Inside, he’ll ask, “How about letting me try it out first?” Answer with the “Go ahead!” option.
Finally, the sixth ending, Fortunate Outcome, is considered the “best” in Bennett’s storyline. This follows the same dialogue options as Ending 5 until the Domain. Instead of letting Bennett try out the device alone, say, “Hmm, how can I let you face the danger alone?” This will activate a Genshin Impact puzzle, and activating all the devices in the proper order, the player will get an achievement and 5 Primogems. The order is bottom (3 torches), top left (1 torch), and top right (2 torches).
This leads to a heartfelt ending with Bennett thanking the Traveler for their kindness, though this storyline is a bit less romantic than the other Genshin Impact Hangout quests.
Genshin Impact is out now for Mobile, PC, and PS4, and is in development for PS5 and Switch.
