Apex Legends Adds Twitch Drops | Game Rant

It’s been a big few weeks for Apex Legends, as the popular battle royale from Respawn Entertainment has finally expanded onto the Nintendo Switch. While it may not be a technical revelation like its counterparts on the other platforms, it has opened doors to a new audience. Either way, Respawn continues to bring new content and updates to the experience including the current Ring Fury LTM.

In addition to new platforms and content, Respawn appears to have plenty of new things on the way with developers teasing that the Season 9 character being appealing to the Japanese fanbase as well as the potential addition of a unique War Games event and the potential return of a villain. However, more immediate changes have finally arrived for the game through Twitch drops adding even more free content for players to dig into.

The news shouldn’t be too surprising as other Electronic Arts titles have already tapped into Twitch Drops, rewarding players for watching streams on the Twitch platform. Simply getting involved with specific streams and checking out competitive events will reward those who have their EA Account linked.

The drops begin on March 27 in time for the Apex Legends Winter Circuit Playoffs. To get the drops, players will need to watch the events from the official Apex Legends Twitch channel or any authorized players. Interested persons should also ensure that their EA Account is linked to their account on the specific platform like Xbox, Switch, or PlayStation. In addition, sign in to Twitch and connect the EA Account to prepare for potential Apex Legends drops.

The rewards themselves are based on viewership time, awarded based on the amount of hours watched. Each item revealed so far is for the trickster character Mirage, though fans are expecting more to come down the road. After one hour, players will earn The Lifetime Wins Tracker, two hours earns the Rare Honorable Mention Badge, three hours unlocks the Rare Number One Banner Pose, and the final drop for four hours watched is the Legendary Metal Collector Banner Frame.

While the news should make Mirage mains fairly happy, most Apex Legends fans have already started looking towards the rapidly approaching season. In fact, dataminers may have stumbled across upcoming content related to a rumored Arena mode. While this isn’t the first time an Arena mode has been rumored, dataminer Biast12 has managed to come across assets like logos and  badges depicting the face of Ash, who was a featured boss character in Titanfall 2 and brought back in a unique story event a few seasons ago. While Respawn isn’t saying anything, fans remain excited to see where this game goes in upcoming seasons.

Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Steam and Switch ports release later this year.
