Destiny 2: Xur Exotic Armor, Weapon, and Recommendations for March 19

Updates and hotfixes were the name of the game this week in Destiny 2, as Bungie released the first of a set of patches incoming over the next few weeks. Unfortunately, this week’s update brought an end to the popular 12-player event glitch, letting far bigger groups of players tackle activities like Raids and Nightfalls. In addition, the popular Deep Stone Crypt raid cheese for disabling the Frostbite debuff was also patched, though resourceful fans only needed an hour or two before finding a new way to glitch through the first area of the raid.

Good news is also on the way for fans of Trials of Osiris. After consecutive weekends of disabling the high level PvP activity, Bungie appears to have the situation fixed and plans to release the mode again later today and throughout this weekend. One way the studio has solved the win-trade exploit is to have temporarily disabled the Fireteam Rejoin feature, though the studio does intend to enable it again at a later date once additional fixes can be made.

Guardian Games and Iron Banner are again on the horizon, but for now, Destiny 2 players can hunt down the exotic merchant Xur for an updated selection of gear. Follow this guide for his location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of March 19, 2021.

This weekend, Xur can be found hanging out on the mighty branches of the tree on Nessus.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Run towards the back of the zone where a massive tree is found. Jump up until players find the huge branch where the merchant is hanging out.

While Xur’s role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Other than that, here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

Sanguine Alchemy – Warlock chest armor

Following a few months on hiatus, the Sanguine Alchemy is back on sale. This exotic was completely overhauled and redesigned at the start of the Season of the Worthy so for Warlocks who originally avoided it like the plague, it may be time to take another look at it.

Blood Magic is the all new exotic perk which allows the player to pause the countdown timer of any rift they’re in by getting kills with weapons. Essentially, this extends the duration of the rift based on how quickly the player can rack up enemy kills. While not crazy, this exotic item is now a bit more useful than it was in the past. It retains value in PvE activities, though it likely won’t replace anything from the current meta.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +6
  • Resilience +10
  • Recovery +18
  • Discipline +15
  • Intellect +7
  • Strength +8

Aeon Swift – Hunter gauntlets

While in years past, the Aeon exotic set would be a very easy thing to pass on due to their very low usage rates and requirement that multiple people in a fireteam have them equipped for maximum effect. However, Bungie has essentially reworked the Aeon set of exotics, making them more valuable and giving each one more of a role-based mechanic. While they’re still not top tier gear, they’re infinitely more useful than they were, even being valuable on difficult activities like Nightfalls.

Instead of a unique perk, this armor now has specific Aeon mods that can be equipped. Sect of Force is for damage dealers, temporarily increasing player reload speed and weapon swap speed after rapid precision hits. Taking down a champion or boss also gives nearby fireteam members a burst of grenade and melee energy. Sect of Vigor gives the player class energy when teammates die, then gaining full class energy after reviving. When nearby players cast their super, allies gain a burst of healing. Finally, Sect of Insight has a chance to drop an orb of power after precision weapon takedowns. When using a finisher on an elite enemy, special ammo is dropped. Using a finisher on a boss or miniboss, heavy ammo drops instead.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +9
  • Resilience +14
  • Recovery +10
  • Discipline +8
  • Intellect +14
  • Strength +7

Khepri’s Horn – Titan helm

After all this time, Khepri’s Horn is still a decent option for players. Originally added alongside the Curse of Osiris expansion, Khepri’s Horn synergizes best with Sunbreaker Titans as its intrinsic perk, Solar Rampart, recharges the barricade ability after a solar kill. In addition, a solar blast is fired when the barricade is used.

While the community isn’t too high on these right now and there are better exotic options out there, it’s a helm that’s still worth adding for Hammer Titans who don’t already have it. Barricade is a very useful skill, especially in many PvE activities like Battlegrounds or taking down tough bosses with rally barricade. Still, it’s likely something that can be safely avoided this week.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +9
  • Resilience +8
  • Recovery +14
  • Discipline +12
  • Intellect +6
  • Strength +16

This electrically-charged bow fires an arrow that splits into three parts thanks to its perk, Split Electron. When the player aims down the sights and draws the bow all the way back, the arrow spread decreases. However, scoring a headshot will charge the next fired arrow to chain electricity between enemies close to each other. It’s generally a fun bow to use in any mode, though it really shines in PvE modes where the chain attacks have more opportunity to happen.

The bow becomes an absolute monster once players unlock the catalyst for the weapon from finishing any core Crucible, Strike, or Gambit activity. Added back in May of last year, unlocking the catalyst makes any final blow trigger the Lightning Rod perk. The bow becomes a supercharged behemoth, especially when clearing out groups of enemies. Absolutely worth picking up this week for all players.

Additional perks:

  • High Tension String
  • Compact Arrow Shaft

Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for March 19, 2021:
