Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is nearly here and both old and new players are going to have a lot to look forward to with the definitive version of this amazing CRPG. What’s more, is that Disco Elysium is coming to PlayStation and Google Stadia, so even more players will have the chance to dive into the wild and trippy world that studio ZA/UM has created.
Now, players who own a PS5 and are looking forward to the game can get a glimpse of what Disco Elysium will look like on the most powerful console hardware. The PlayStation Access YouTube channel has released a video, captured completely on PS5, which focuses on 5 things players need to know before jumping into Disco Elysium: The Final Cut for the first time.
For those who have no idea what Disco Elysium is, it’s essentially a CRPG-style detective game, set in a fantastic realism world with its own fully fleshed out lore, which dives heavily into themes of politics, philosophy, and religion. The game follows an amnesiac detective who, after waking up alone after a drug-fueled bender, is tasked with investigating the death of a hanging man behind a motel. Since the game was limited to only a PC release in 2019, there are many players who have still yet to experience the rich, dense world that it has to offer. Thankfully, now players can experience the game on both PS4 and PS5, with the latter offering an impressive 4K resolution at 60 fps on PS5.
PlayStation Access’ video shows off the game’s stunning performance on PS5, while running down some basics that players should know going in. However, be warned that some of the gameplay footage shown in the video may contain spoilers for important parts of the game’s story. Still, the video does give some good information about the game, including what players get with Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. Disco Elysium: The Final Cut comes with fully voiced dialogue, brand new music, the ability to fast travel, and brand new quests.
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut‘s Political Vision quests are a big deal for returning players, especially for those who want to dive even further into role-playing with the game’s lore. There will be four new quests that dive much deeper into the political realm of Disco Elysium, which was a large part of the original version’s world and story. Though these themes may be somewhat challenging to wrap one’s mind around, they are incredibly interesting to dive into after some time.
However, like many of Disco Elysium‘s more intense themes, these political aspects of the game may not be for everyone. In fact, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut refused classification in Australia, meaning it was not officially rated by what is essentially Australia’s ESRB. That should convey some of the lengths that Disco Elysium will go to when diving into its world and themes. Regardless, players excited to experience the game, especially on advanced PS5 hardware, should definitely give Disco Elysium a shot.
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut will come out in March 2021 for PC, PS4, and PS5, and in summer 2021 for Switch and Xbox Series X/S.
