The 1.4 update for Genshin Impact will be bringing the Venti and Childe banners back, along with new events, updates, and quests. While the Venti banner will be fairly similar to his original run, the Childe banner features the four-star Rosaria, a brand new Cryo polearm user. As Rosaria will be the first new four-star character added to Genshin Impact since Xinyan, fans are excited to give her kit a try.
With the Childe banner coming soon, Rosaria’s playstyle, constellations, and skillset have been revealed, although there could still be minor changes before her release. Nonetheless, she appears to fit a number of different roles and can be built flexibly into a number of different party compositions. Genshin Impact players that are lacking a solid Cryo character should potentially invest in Rosaria.
Rosaria should be a familiar face for any Genshin Impact player who has completed the Dragonspine questline. A member of the Church of Favonius in Mondstadt, players first encounter her at the base of the Dragonspine mountain. Recognizing that the player and Paimon are searching for Albedo, Rosaria states that she’s doing the same, although she refuses to give a reason. Later on, Rosario warns the player not to trust Albedo and that he likely has some ulterior motive.
Though Rosaria quickly parts ways after that mysterious exchange, it seems that she has a few secrets that she wants to keep from the player. Beyond the sparse interactions with her in Albedo’s questline, not much is known about her intentions or her past. Hopefully, Rosaria’s appearance on the new Genshin Impact banner will come with a storyline that unravels some of the mystery surrounding her.
Much like Xiangling, Rosaria’s normal attack pattern only has five consecutive strikes instead of the six that their five-star counterparts have. Rosaria’s charged attack is similar to other polearm users, as she lunges through enemies dealing damage along the way. However, Rosaria’s elemental skill and elemental burst are interesting, as they allow her to fill a variety of different roles in Genshin Impact teams.
Rosaria’s elemental skill is called “Ravaging Confession,” allowing her to swiftly shift her position to appear behind her opponent while slashing them with her polearm for Cryo damage. The leaked data indicates that this ability cannot be used to travel behind larger opponents, although it’s unclear what “larger” means. It’s not a big deal if Rosaria doesn’t have the ability to flank Genshin Impact bosses such as Stormterror or the Vines, but it could be a problem if she cannot use the skill on basic enemies like the larger hilichurls or Fatui henchmen.
Rosaria’s elemental burst is called “Rites of Termination,” which allows her to swing her weapon to deal damage to nearby enemies while summoning an ice lance that strikes the ground. Both actions deal Cryo damage, and the ice lance will periodically release a blast of cold air dealing damage over time in a small AoE. Since it has a short downtime, Genshin Impact players will likely be able to use her burst constantly during fights.
Genshin Impact’s Rosaria has two main passives: “Regina Probationum” and “Shadow Samaritan.” The Regina Probationum passive increases her crit rate by 12 percent for five seconds when striking an opponent from behind with her elemental skill. This enhances her DPS role better by giving her a burst of damage after flanking an enemy. The Shadow Samaritan passive causes her elemental burst to increase the crit rate of all nearby party members by 15 percent of Rosaria’s crit rate for 10 seconds. This crit rate bonus is capped at 15 percent, and thus improves her support role better by giving a party-wide buff.
As Rosaria is a four-star Genshin Impact character, her constellations are easily obtainable for any player and should provide some nice boosts to her DPS and supporting capabilities. Rosaria has three notable constellations: her first, fourth, and sixth ones.
The first constellation is called “Unholy Revelation,” which increases her attack speed and damage by 10 percent for four seconds whenever she deals a critical hit. Her fourth constellation is called “Painful Grace” which enables her elemental skill to regenerate five energy whenever it crits. Her sixth constellation is called “Divine Retribution,” and it enables her elemental burst to decrease enemies’ physical resistance by 20 percent for 10 seconds. Though none of her constellations are as strong as her five-star counterparts, they will be much easier to obtain through wishes.
Looking at Rosaria’s attack patterns, elemental skill, and elemental burst, it seems that she can fill a variety of different roles in team compositions. As a burst support, she has the potential to enable strong physical DPS characters, especially when paired together with her sixth constellation. Hybrid Electro characters such as Beidou and Razor will benefit greatly from super-conduct reactions, and her Cryo application seems strong enough to support melt reactions from Pyro characters like Klee or Diluc.
On the other hand, Genshin Impact’s Rosaria can also fill a sub-DPS role thanks to her split of physical and Cryo damage, together with her crit rate buffs. Since she doesn’t lose much by leaving the field, she will likely function similarly to characters like Xiangling or Beidou, where she can enable her team and deal damage before swapping with someone else.
Rosaria’s weapon choices are a little complex because there isn’t enough information regarding her attack patterns. The Crescent Pike in Genshin Impact is a fantastic choice on characters like Xiangling and Zhongli, but it’s unclear if Rosaria shares the multi-hits in her attack pattern. Instead, Rosaria might also benefit from the Dragonspine Spear which can further buff her Cryo damage and application. Depending on Rosaria’s final attack pattern, Genshin Impact players may want to hold off investing heavily into one weapon before her release.
Rosaria’s flexibility and four-star status should be exciting for many Genshin Impact players as they will able to easily obtain and form compositions around her. If players are unsure if they will enjoy her playstyle or mechanics, Rosaria will likely be available on a trial run when the Childe banner is released. As always, players should note that there is room for minor adjustments to her kit before release, and nothing is set in stone until the banner. Nonetheless, Rosaria should prove to be an exciting new character that can easily adapt to different teams.
Genshin Impact is available now on PC, Mobile, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
