Naruto: Every Team Naruto Has Been Part Of | Game Rant

Fans of Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto franchise would get all too familiar with the hit series’ eponymous shinobi. After all, this brash teenager with the orange jumpsuit proved that his role as the bearer of the horrific Nine-Tails would be no match for his dream: to become Hokage, the leader of the Hidden Leaf Village.

However, Naruto Uzumaki didn’t embark on this journey alone. In his quest, Naruto has become a valuable member of not just his cherished Team 7. Rather, Naruto has touched the hearts of his fellow academy batchmates in Konoha, and even made connections with various individuals across the land. Throughout his journey, just how many teams did Naruto become a part of?

14 Konoha 11

Given the series’ Konoha-centric nature, it’s natural for the franchise to revolve around teams situated in Konoha. Likewise, all media would refer to Teams 7, 8, 10, and Team Guy as “Konoha 11.” Essentially, these all form Naruto and his academy “batchmates,” minus Sasuke given his defection.

Interestingly, the anime would serve as the only media to ever use “Konoha 11” to pertain to Naruto’s batch. Likewise, Konoha 11 have only done “missions” in the anime, including the Konoha Plans Recapture Mission against Genno  as well as the Sunagakure Support Mission against the Four Celestial Symbols Men.

13 Team 7

Fans of Naruto best know the eponymous character as a member of Team 7. Naruto, alongside Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha, trained under Kakashi Hatake and his principles of teamwork and loyalty. As a genin team, Naruto and his companions often got the low-end of missions. However, as with other Genin of their generation, Team 7’s members seem compatible with one another.

For instance, Naruto’s loneliness as the Kyuubi’s Jinchuriki matched with Sasuke’s lamentation of the loss of his family. Both boasted unique abilities, that of Naruto’s brashness and excellent chakra and Sasuke’s battle acumen and the Sharingan. Meanwhile, Sakura’s empathy and keen intellect would hold the team together. Sadly, despite their strong personalities, none would make it to Chunin rank. The three would be reunited in the Fourth Shinobi World War, with each reaching the pinnacle of their potential.

12 Team Kakashi/Yamato

After Sasuke’s defection, Kakashi filed the necessary paperwork to rename the team as “Team Kakashi.” This time around, Kakashi requested for Naruto and Sasuke to be treated as his equals. By then, Naruto and Sakura trained under the guidance of Jiraiya and Tsunade, two of the Legendary Sannin.

Likewise, the addition of Sai and new teacher Yamato would have the group go as “Team Yamato.” Sai would contribute his cunning and skill with his unique ink techniques. Meanwhile, Yamato’s unique Wood Release affinity would make their team ideal for special operations.

11 Sasuke Recovery Team

Perhaps the most popular team of Part 1 of the series, the Sasuke Recovery Team serves as the Genin Team responsible for the retrieval of Sasuke after his abduction, courtesy of the Hidden Sound Village. Hokage Tsunade appoints Shikamaru Nara, the only one in Naruto’s batch to ever become Chunin, to lead the team.

Albeit formed hastily, Shikamaru utilized his member’s strengths to the best of their ability. Kiba Inuzuka and Akamaru led the group due to their tracking, while Shikamaru follows closely behind to issue commands. Meanwhile, Neji Hyuga watched the rear with his Byakugan. Likewise, Naruto’s Shadow Clones and Choji Akimichi’s physical strength could defend the team against any surprises.

10 Bikochu Search Team

After the Sasuke Recovery Team failed to retrieve Sasuke from Otokagure, the Hokage would form yet another team to search for Sasuke. This time around, the team would rely solely on tracking tools. The Bikochu Search Team hoped to search for the rare bikochu beetle, rumored to be capable of tracking any target with their scent.

Due to the sensitive nature of the mission, the entirety of Team Kurenai would make up the Bikochu Search Team. They have insect expert Shino Aburame, Hinata Hyuga’s visual prowess with the Byakugan, as well as Kiba’s tracking skills. They would also recruit Naruto, eager to find Sasuke. Unfortunately, while they would locate the beetle, Naruto’s fart would become the scent the bettle would attach itself to – rendering the mission a failure.

9 Kaima Capture Team

Anko Mitarashi would recruit Naruto, Shino, and Ino Yamanaka to accompany her to a delivery ship in the Land of the Sea. Hopefully, their escort mission would solve not just a sea monster mystery, but also find Orochimaru’s whereabouts.

As Orochimaru’s former protege, Anko believes that finding Orochimaru would lead to finding Sasuke. If their mission succeeds, they would locate one of Orochimaru’s labs near the Land of the Sea. They would encounter Amachi, Orochimaru’s research accomplice, but find no useful information.

8 Star Guard Team

During Sasuke’s absence, Naruto and his academy batchmates would also conduct various missions of their own. One such mission would be the guardianship of a mysterious chakra-emitting star in Hoshigakure, the Hidden Village of the Star. Naruto will accompany the entirety of Team Guy (Neji, Rock Lee, and Tenten) in the mission.

In the village, they would clash with ninjas hoping to use the star’s radiation to train using the Mysterious Peacock Method. However, Naruto eventually destroys the star with his Rasengan when one Hoshigakure shinobi attempted to embedded the star – actually a meteorite – into his being for nefarious reasons.

7 Peddlers Escort Team

In yet another mission during Sasuke’s absence, Naruto, Hinata, and Choji would have to escort a merchant group to safety and away from the Land of Vegetables. However, the three would soon realize that their true mission is to protect Haruna. At this point obviously not a merchant, Haruna turns out to be the true successor of the Land of the Vegetables’ daimyo. Moreover, Haruna wanted to run away from the Janin who seek to kill her.

In the end, Naruto and the team manage to stop the missing-nin from their assassination attempt. Haruna offered Naruto a position as her adviser, but Naruto declined given his devotion to saving Sasuke.

6 Kazekage Rescue Team

In Part 2, Naruto won’t just get a new outfit – he’d get new missions as well. After Naruto’s training with Jiraiya, his first official mission back in Konoha would be saving the Kazekage Gaara from the Akatsuki. The Kazekage Rescue Team comprised of Team Kakashi alongside the mythical healer and puppeteer Chiyo. In their efforts, Sakura and Chiyo managed to kill the Akatsuki Sasori, Chiyo’s grandson, in combat. Meanwhile, Kakashi and Naruto forces the Akatsuki Deidara to retreat due to their efforts.

Sadly, Gaara dies after the extraction of Shukaku, the One-Tails, from his body. Chiyo revives Gaara by giving up her own life, bringing the mission to success. The team returns to Konoha after Chiyo’s burial.

5 Orochimaru Search Team

Upon the discovery of one of Orochimaru’s bases, Konoha forms the Orochimaru Search Team to infiltrate and gather information. However, complications arise once news of a rampaging Three-Tails near the area has gone out. As a result, the Search Team had divisions of three smaller teams.

Team One, comprised of Kakashi, Shino, Sai, and Naruto, would secure Yukimaru, the Three-Tails Jinchuriki, from Guren. Team Two, comprised of Yamato, Tenten, Lee, and Kiba, would fight other members of Guren’s team. Lastly, Team Three, comprised of Shizune, Hinata, Ino, and Sakura, would seal the Three-Tails with their precise chakra control.

4 Eight Man Squad

Konoha officially forms the Eight Man Squad upon hearing the news of Sasuke’s victory against Orochimaru. Now that Naruto realized Sasuke might not be returning to Konoha, he asked the Hokage if he could hunt the Akatsuki Itachi Uchiha as well, knowing he would be Sasuke’s next target. With this in mind, the Hokage combines Team 7 and Team 8 to form the Eight Man Squad.

In turn, the team would comprise of Shino, Kiba and Akamaru, Hinata, Kiba, Sai, Sakura, as well as Naruto and Kakashi. During the mission, the team would get distracted by both Akatsuki Deidara and Akatsuki Tobi. Sadly, their mission to track Itachi failed as their target lay dying, slain in a duel by Sasuke.

3 The Jinchuriki

Albeit not necessarily an official “team,” it’s important to acknowledge Naruto’s membership among the Jinchuriki. They all serve as the human “hosts” to sealed Bijuu or Tailed Beasts. Originally, the Nine Tailed Beasts was one entity called the Ten-Tails, a being which planned to annihilate the planet and consume all its life essence. Thanks to the efforts of Hagoromo and Haruma Otsutsuki, they sealed the Ten-Tails inside Hagoromo and stopped its rampage.

When Hagoromo neared his death, he split the Ten-Tails into nine Bijuu in order to avoid its power falling into the wrong hands. By the time the Hidden Villages were formed, their citizens eventually learned how to seal the Bijuu inside Jinchuriki. Originally created as weapons, Naruto and his generation of Jinchuriki stopped their villages’ intentions of using them for destruction.

2 Hanabi Rescue Team

After the Fourth Shinobi World War, peace hasn’t exactly been directly restored in the land. When Toneri Otsutsuki kidnapped Hanabi Hyuga, the heiress of the Hyuga Clan, the Hokage would task Shikamaru to form the Hanabi Rescue Team to retrieve the heiress. As a result, Shikamaru will task Naruto, Hinata, Sai, and Sakura to accompany him.

Thankfully, the mission is a success. The Rescue Team manages to restore Hanabi’s Hyuga by retrieving them from Toneri. However, the Rescue Team would also have to stop Toneri’s plan of forcing the Moon to fall on the planet, something they manage to accomplish.

1 The Hokage

Each Hidden Village is supervised by a Kage, a shinobi of immense power and respect. It’s the Hokage that’s become Naruto’s dream ever since he’s discovered its existence – and it’s a title he will eventually acquire at the end of the series. The Hokage serves as the head of the Leaf Village, and it’s thanks to Naruto’s heroism and goal to “connect” with everyone that made him a respectable Hokage, even after his son Boruto was born.

Naruto joins the likes of his mentor Kakashi and Tsunade, his father Minato Namikaze, and his other predecessors as the protector of the Leaf Village.
