The makers of Space Hulk: Deathwing have returned with a new shooter.
StreumOn, the indie team behind the classic E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy, and Space Hulk: Deathwing more recently, has returned with a new shooter project. Necromunda: Hired Gun is the studio’s violent, frenetic shooter and it’s coming out June 1.
Necromunda: Hired Gun is set in Warhammer 40,000’s Necromunda, a dystopian hive city, a setting rarely explored in games. Gameplay looks more similar to StreumOn’s first project than the tactical Deathwing. The character can fluidly chain wall-runs, dashes and grappling hook shots as they reposition around the arena.
Combat appears lethal, with the pace almost resembling that of the new Dooms’, including even what look to be finishers. But you also get access some bionic augments, which can be upgraded over the course of the game, that borrow some elements from Dishonored. Gameplay revolves around taking on bounty contracts that will send you after some of the most dangerous targets in the underhive.
And there’s a dog companion, well, technically half-mastiff half-robot. Like your own abilities and weapons, you’ll also be able to upgrade those of your animal friend. As you can see in the gameplay above, it looks quite different from your typical Warhammer 40,000 games, and you won’t have to wait too long to play it.
Necromunda: Hired Gun comes to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on June 1.
