While there is no news on a new Ninja Gaiden game, fans will soon be able to relive the Team Ninja’s reboot trilogy on modern consoles. Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection is set to launch later this year, and as it turns out, those who decide to purchase it will have a few different options to choose from. Koei Tecmo has officially announced a Digital Deluxe Edition for Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection that will be available the same day as the physical release on June 10.
The Digital Deluxe Edition of Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection will include a 70 page digital art book and a soundtrack with over 180 songs. Unfortunately, pricing information for the Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection Digital Deluxe Edition wasn’t revealed, but it will likely be $10 or $20 more expensive than the standard release. Of course, all versions of the collection include Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge.
Meanwhile, Koei Tecmo also announced some pre-order bonuses for Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection. Anyone that pre-orders the PS4 version of the game will unlock a Ninja Gaiden series theme for their console as well as five avatars based on the franchise. Those that pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition on Xbox One will get a 10% discount, though pre-order bonuses have yet to be revealed for the PC and Switch versions of the game.
Some may be wondering why there’s no next-gen version of Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection, though Koei Tecmo has not offered any explanation. But while Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection will not have a native release on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, it will still be playable on the next-generation consoles. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X support backward compatibility, so fans will still be able to play the game on their new consoles if they so desire.
If there is enough interest in Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection, one has to imagine that would encourage Koei Tecmo to bring the franchise back from the grave. As it stands, there hasn’t been a new main series Ninja Gaiden game in nearly a decade, and Team Ninja has already said that it is not working on Ninja Gaiden 4. Perhaps the studio may revisit the Ninja Gaiden franchise after its done working on its original IP, but it has not made any indication that will be the case.
While fans wait for more information on a possible new Ninja Gaiden game, they can revisit the reboot trilogy when Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection launches later this year.
Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection launches June 10 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
