One of the most popular party game franchises in the video game industry is coming back with its eighth iteration. Friday morning Jackbox Games announced that The Jackbox Party Pack 8 is in development with a tentative release window of fall 2021. It’ll feature just as many games, be available on just as many platforms, and connect online in just as many ways as Jackbox fans now expect. It’s The Jackbox Party Pack 8 that fans have wanted.
As with every Jackbox Party Pack, the most important detail is what minigames will be included. As with every Jackbox Party Pack announcement, the Jackbox team is being coy. All that it’s willing to say is that The Jackbox Party Pack 8 will feature five total games, just like previous packs. These games will be announced one at a time with the first game to be revealed before the end of May. The remaining games will be revealed periodically over the next several months.
The Jackbox team also confirms two specific features included with The Jackbox Party Pack 8. Players will once again be able to use phones as controllers and streamers will be able to play along with their audiences, as in previous games. No other new features are mentioned, but anything is possible.
The announcement also addresses why there’s no final release date for The Jackbox Party Pack 8. It’s pretty simple. They just don’t know when The Jackbox Party Pack 8 will launch, yet. Since packs are released annually, the Jackbox team works hard to finish the game as fast as possible, but the games are only done when they’re done. September is mentioned as a typical release window, but nothing’s certain. Expect more details closer to launch.
The Jackbox Party Pack 8 releases later this year.
