GOG Offering Free Game to Certain Users | Game Rant

Most people can agree that it’s always nice to get free stuff. Now, GOG is offering a free game download as part of their Deep Silver Developer’s sale this weekend.

More than fifty titles from developer Deep Silver are on sale right now, including a few games for as low as $2.99. Even better, customers who own a Deep Silver Title on GOG can get a free game, regardless of when they bought it.

Between now and Monday, customers get a free download of Deadlight: Directors Cut with the purchase of any other game published by Deep Silver. Granted, “free with purchase” isn’t exactly the same as “free,” but with classic tiles for less the five bucks, it’s definitely a good deal. Anyone who already owns a Deep Silver game through GOG can still download Deadlight: Director’s Cut absolutely free. So, customers will get the same fantastic deal whether they bought Iron Harvest last year or this weekend.

This extra incentive is on top of GOG’s Deep Silver weekend publisher’s sale, which began Friday. And there are some truly spectacular deals for gamers who act fast. The aforementioned Iron Harvest is currently 30 percent off.  Meanwhile, shooter fans can buy the entire Red Faction series for $14 total. That includes the Re-Mars-tered edition of Red Faction: Guerrilla for only $4. Other deals include Metro 2033: Redux for $3.99, Painkiller: Black Edition for $2, Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package for $3, and Saints Row IV: Game of the Century Edition for only $4.

That’s a lot of great games for less than the price of a typical cafe-bought cup of coffee. Other titles on sale include Metro: Exodus, post-apocalyptic turn-based strategy game Wasteland 3, and open-world survival RPG Outward.

These would be pretty good deals even if the purchase didn’t come with a free copy of the 2016 Deadlight: Director’s Cut. For anyone who missed out the first time, Tequila Works’ Deadlight is a fairly unique indie horror game. It stood out from the glut of late 2000s zombie games by being a moody 2D platformer instead of a high-octane shooter. Granted, “moody 2D platformer” became the standard for indie games after a while, but it remains a memorable title.

Deadlight may not have aged as gracefully as the developer might hope. Still, this sale offers an excellent opportunity for gamers to decide for themselves. That’s especially true since it’s entirely free for anyone who already purchased a Deep Silver title on Good Old Games. And considering the size of the studio’s catalog, that is not too hard to do.

The sale began Friday, March 19th, and ends at 2 PM UTC on Monday, March 22nd. That means gamers only have a limited time to take advantage of these great deals and receive their free game.

Deadlight: Director’s Cut is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
