New Dragon Age 4 Concept Art Revealed, and Everybody is Loving the Hat

Dragon Age 4, or whatever it ends up being properly called, has slowly been revealing more and more. It went really quiet after its Game Awards tease back in 2018, but 2020 saw a few showcases and 2021 is gearing up to be about the same. For example, earlier this year, BioWare showed a new Dragon Age 4 image of what appeared to be some sort of Archer with a flare for magic.

In celebration of it being Friday, it seems DA4 executive producer Christian Dailey and creative director Matthew Goldman decided to reveal yet another image, a piece of concept art that seemingly highlights all-things Tevinter. Of course, many know Tevinter is the location of Dragon Age 4, which means the fashion is unique too.

As seen below, the new image highlights a concept of a Tevinter character. The outfit is easily indicative of a Mage but with the known, more Gothic tastes of the Tevinter Imperium. The staff itself seems simple enough, but it’s not necessarily the staff that catches the eye—it’s the ornate hat.

Several Dragon Age 4 fans seem quite happy by this image, but it is indeed the hat that’s stealing the show. Hopefully, something similar is available to the main DA4 character, as they’ll need to blend in when in Tevinter regardless of how their origins turn out. It’s a promising character creation idea, but of course, fans can only wait and see if this is indeed the case. At the very least, hopefully there’ll be something similar; this is concept art, after all.

Beyond the sheer gushing over the Dragon Age 4 character and her hat, though, there is also one more notable response. Creative director Goldman quote tweeted the image with a simple caption: “Meet me in Minrathous.” Many may know that this is the capital and largest city of the Tevinter Imperium, and many have inferred that the city shown off in the most recent Dragon Age 4 trailer was Minrathous. Obviously, Goldman’s tweet isn’t exactly a confirmation that it is, but the general mood of the image and the skyline in the background is definitely reminiscent of the trailer.

For now, fans should know they still likely have a wait on their hands. It is refreshing to see more and more shared about the game, but given what’s known of Dragon Age 4‘s development, it could still be quite some time before the game is ready to ship. There’s no doubt that fans are anxious for the game, but there’s also no doubt that many fans want BioWare to take its time and get it right. Many fans have wanted to see Tevinter for years, so fingers crossed that the wait, however long it is, is well worth it.

Dragon Age 4 is in development.
