Classic ‘Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1 And Ghosts Toy Line Unveiled By Hasbro

It’s been a while since the classic Ghostbusters designs have been in any kind of big-screen film. While the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot film did alright for itself, it was also a fairly significant re-imagining of the original movie, and some fans were disappointed by the lack of continuity with the previous 2 films. Those fans may be excited to hear they’ll have a new way to express their fandom very soon though.

Toy manufacturer Hasbro recently partook in Walmart’s Collector Con, where they showcased a couple of exciting new Ghostbusters items for fans of the old-school toys and designs. It’s not just fans of the movies who can get excited about this, however, as some of the toys will also be based on The Real Ghostbusters TV show.

The Real Ghostbusters was, of course, an animated TV show based on the original films that ran from 1986 to 1991. The series starred the titular team and Slimer as they got involved in all sorts of paranormal hijinks related to their business. The show featured brand new ghosts and ghouls that the team had to hunt down and capture, which of course made for a decent toy line as well.

As for the toys themselves, 2 of the announced figures will be from The Real Ghostbusters show. The first is Bug-Eye, a big purple blob of a creature with the ability to remove and manipulate a giant eye on top of his head. The toy itself attaches the eye to a string so he can hold it up. The second toy is Fearsome Flush, which is a toilet, basically. Though it appears to be a normal toilet, when the top and lid are opened, the ghostly spirit inside is exposed.

For purist fans, though, there is also a model of the classic Ecto-1 car, complete with moving wheels, opening tailgate, deployable ghost claw, and swiveling gunner seat. It’s certainly an impressive suite of toys, which of course, won’t come cheap. As collector’s items, the two ghosts will cost $15 apiece and the Ecto-1 will ask for $50 dollars when it finally arrives.

It’s a bit of a steep price tag, but it seems as though the focus on quality will make it worth the investment. They’re certainly authentic-looking and will definitely be a worthy display piece for any die-hard Ghostbusters fans, and will certainly tide people until Ghostbusters: Afterlife returns to the original timeline later this year.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on November 11, 2021.
