Genshin Impact: 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Xiangling

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play, gacha, open-world action RPG released in September 2020 on PC, PS4, Android, and iOS. The game takes place in the colorful world of Teyvat, home to seven different nations that are all tied to a specific element. And while the player controls and follows the story of the Traveler, the protagonist, they can play as many other interesting heroes.

One of these unique characters is Xiangling, referred to as the “Exquisite Delicacy.” She controls the element of Pyro and uses a Polearm as her weapon of choice. Xiangling, a four-star character, is a chef in the Liyue who enjoys trying out many different recipes and experimenting with strange and unusual ingredients.

10 Xiangling According To The Official Website

“The Head Chef at the Wanmin Restaurant and also a waitress there, Xiangling is extremely passionate about cooking and excels at her signature hot and spicy dishes. Though still young, Xiangling is a true master of the culinary arts with all the skills of a kitchen veteran. She enjoys a good reputation among the hearty eaters at Chihu Rock. There’s absolutely no need to be nervous if she wants you to sample her latest creation. It will not disappoint. Promise.”

This is how miHoYo, the developer of Genshin Impact, defines Xiangling on the game’s official website. Even though she is young, Xiangling is already the head chef of a famous restaurant (which she runs alongside her father, Chef Mao). In addition to picking up waiting shifts, when Xiangling is not in the kitchen cooking away, she can be found in the laboratory (which is also the kitchen) testing out all the different recipes that Teyvat offers.

9 Xiangling According To The Game

“A renowned chef from Liyue. She’s extremely passionate about cooking and excels at making her signature hot and spicy dishes.”

This is what Xiangling’s in-game character attributes text reads in Genshin Impact. She learned how to cook from her father and does not limit herself to any one type of cuisine. Xiangling is not afraid to use things that seem unconventional (or even appear to be edible) when it comes to ingredients in her dishes. If she fails to try to create a new recipe, Xiangling just tries again (and again).

In fact, Xiangling’s fantastic style of cooking is what made a name for herself in not only Liyue but Mondstadt too. On top of that, Xiangling does not care about money (called mora in the game) but rather values the happiness that her food brings to customers.

8 Xiangling’s Design

It is hard to believe Xiangling is a chef by looking at her as she does not traditionally dress like one. Instead, Xiangling dons a brown-and-gold leotard that comes with red ribbons and a bell on the back. She also wears a gold belt, brown fingerless gloves, brown boots, a red ribbon on her thigh and another on her arm, and bandages on her knee. Xiangling also carries around a crystal orb (known in the game as a Vision) and her panda companion Guoba.

As for her appearance, Xiangling has black hair which she wears in braided buns (that look panda-like) clipped up with gold clips shaped like paws. Xiangling has golden eyes and light skin, and she is constantly smiling.

7 Xiangling Has Fiery Talents

With her Polearm in hand and fire (Pyro) in her heart, Xiangling is always ready to rumble. When it comes to her talents, they exemplify how flaming hot yet soft and sweet she is.

Xiangling’s normal attack is called Dough-Fu; her elemental skill is Guoba Attack; Xiangling’s elemental burst is Pyronado; her first Ascension passive talent is Crossfire; Xiangling’s fourth Ascension passive is “Beware, It’s Super Hot!”; and her utility passive talent is Chef de Cuisine.

6 Xiangling Is Weirdly Into Slime

To level up a character’s talents, the player needs to acquire numerous materials. When it comes to Xiangling, she likes Teachings of Diligence, Guide to Diligence, and Philosophies of Diligence. Xiangling also likes Slime (Condensate, Secretions, Concentrate) and is a fan of Dvalin’s Claw.

When it comes to Ascension, Xiangling prefers Agnidus Agate (Sliver, Fragment, Chunk, Gemstone), Everflame Seed, Jueyun Chili, and — that’s right — Slime (Condensate, Secretions, Concentrate).

5 Xiangling Uses Trulla

Trulla is the name of Xiangling’s constellation, the character progression system. Each constellation is unlocked with a Stella Fortuna (which is only obtainable through pulling duplicates via Wishes).

If the player decides to invest in her, Xiangling will be able to imbue even more Pyro into her attacks and increase their burning capabilities (even making enemies explode). From levels one to six, they are Crispy Outside, Tender Inside, Oil Meets Fire, Deepfry, Slowbake, Guoba Mad, and Condensed Pyronado.

4 Xiangling Turned Up The Heat At Wanmin Restaurant

“A famous restaurant known in Chihu Rock. Some say that the goal of this restaurant is to keep everyone on earth well fed, while others believe that it strives to unify all the regional cuisines of the world. Either way, with its unique dishes, Wanmin Restaurant is surely a place worth visiting. If you really don’t have time, why not grab some takeout?”

Wanmin Restaurant, as explained by the game’s World Map description, is one of the best restaurants in not only Chihu Rock but in the entirety of Liyue Harbor (and Liyue…and Teyvat). Its name quite literally means “A Restaurant for All People.” Xiangling helped her father Chef Mao put the place on the map. Since Xiangling is out adventuring these days, Chef Mao will whip up the player anything from Grilled Tiger Fish to something called the Triple-Layer Consommé (ham fowl, bamboo shoots).

3 Xiangling Makes A Mean Stew

Wanmin Restaurant’s Boiled Fish is a special food item that the player has a chance to cook up by making Black-Back Perch Stew with Xiangling. It is her favorite dish and specialty, made with fish, Jueyun Chili, salt, and Violetgrass.

This dish embodies Xiangling’s love and passion for food, and it is considered the restaurant’s most iconic plate. In terms of in-game benefits, it instantly restores around a third of a character’s health and allows them to recover 980 HP in intervals of 5s for half a minute.

2 Xiangling Is Voiced By Jackie Lastra

The voice actor for Xiangling is Jackie Lastra. She also voiced Selka in Sword Art Online, Kiyo Terauchi in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba, and Serena in Pokemon Masters.

In addition to these roles, Lastra also voiced Melty Melromarc in The Rising of the Shield Hero, Nika Aoi and Pinky in Beyblade Burst, Chamberlain and Conny in The Promised Neverland, Ena in Fire Emblem Heroes, and Io in Granblue Fantasy: The Animation.

1 Xiangling Was Born On November 2

On November 2, Xiangling was born, which would make her a Scorpio.

Also, she shares her birthday with actor Shah Rukh Khan, Marie Antoinette (the former queen of France), President Warren G. Harding, actor David Schwimmer, and rapper Nelly.

When playing Genshin Impact on Xiangling’s birthday, the player will hear her say: “I was all-prepared to hop into the kitchen, but my dad told me that I couldn’t help out at the restaurant on my birthday, and instead I should go hang out with friends…”
