Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered by many to be the most ambitious and expansive title ever released by Rockstar Games. With how much there is to already do and see within the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, it seems very likely that Rockstar had potentially a lot more content in mind for the game that had to get cut for one reason or another. One such piece of content has recently been discovered by a player.
The PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 definitely gives the player a lot more options in terms of what can be accomplished within the confines of the game. Since its release on PC, players have developed mods that not only change up the cosmetics of the game, but also allows players to discover unused areas of the game world. However, a much more extensive, albeit tiresome, method of uncovering the game’s hidden secrets is through the game files that can be accessed via the PC version.
A Reddit user by the name of TwinkieSnake uncovered an unused character model found in the game. Saint Denis, a town found in Red Dead Redemption 2, has uniformed police officers clad in blue outfits and black hats and apparently, there were supposed to be female versions of the police officers found there.
It seems somewhat unclear as to why these character models were unused in the game. It’s possible that, as a way of keeping in line with other historical accuracies featured in the game, female police officers would not be nearly as commonplace during that era of history. Although, female gunslingers like Black Belle and Sadie Adler are featured prominently in Red Dead Redemption 2.
It begs to question what else may be hidden away in the game files of the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s clear that Rockstar Games had a lot of ideas in mind when making this game. The assets of which could still be hiding somewhere in the game files, waiting for players to discover. Such is the case with the female Saint Denis police officer.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds in terms of Red Dead Redemption. With Red Dead Online taking up the bulk of the Red Dead related content, it seems unlikely that fans will see another entry in the mainline series anytime soon. Though, that’s not to say Rockstar Games isn’t working on other projects outside of Red Dead. Grand Theft Auto 6 has been rumored to be in development for years now, but there has yet to be any kind of official announcement.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
