With the newest leak of Genshin Impact characters Eula and Yanfei, players are excited to catch a glimpse of potential skillsets and models from the closed beta tests. Although these characters likely won’t come until the 1.5 update in the future, there are many upcoming Genshin Impact characters that have been leaked or rumored to appear from story quests, trailers, character lines, official manga and more.
While these leaks for Genshin Impact characters are usually credible, much of the datamined information could be released months or even years into the future. It’s also important to note that while there’s a strong chance these characters eventually make it to the game, there’s always the possibility that they are scrapped or remain NPCs. Nonetheless, these unreleased characters should excite Genshin Impact players.
This category features the characters that will likely make it to Genshin Impact at some point in the near future. These characters have been officially confirmed or leaked from the closed beta tests with fully animated models and skillsets shown. Going off the previous leaks of Hu Tao, Xiao, and Ganyu, this implies that these characters are ready to be added barring some minor fixes.
Rosaria is the only officially confirmed Genshin Impact character in this category and she will be appearing on the Childe banner directly after the current Venti banner ends. A 4 star Cryo polearm user, Rosaria was initially leaked alongside Albedo and Ganyu as she later appeared in the Dragonspine questline.
Ayaka is a Genshin Impact character that has been around since the initial launch of the game when she appeared in the original closed beta test. A Cryo sword user, Ayaka’s skillset features an unique sprint like Mona and has an elemental burst that transforms her sword into a fan that gusts with icy winds. Ayaka has been confirmed to appear in the second act of the main story which will likely feature the upcoming Japanese-inspired Inazuma region.
The most recent Genshin Impact leaks feature the full models and skillsets of Yanfei and Eula, which likely means they will be appearing soon. Yanfei is supposedly a 4 star Pyro catalyst while Eula is a 5 star Cryo claymore, so there’s a good chance they might appear on a banner together in version 1.5.
Back in September 2020 when Genshin Impact was first released, miHoYo also released a story preview trailer that outlined the direction of the game’s story and regions. Alongside every chapter reveal was a different character that would be featured in their respective region. Apart from Ayaka, nothing has been revealed about these characters apart from their names and character art so while they are officially confirmed, they won’t appear until the far future.
Cyno was revealed to be the featured character of the third act in the region of Sumeru. The story trailer hinted at Sumeru being inspired by the deserts of Egypt and Cyno can be seen wearing clothing similar to Anubis. He also appears to be wielding a polearm in his character art and the red jewel on his belt might imply a Pyro vision.
The fourth act of Genshin Impact will feature Lyney and Lynette in the region of Fontaine. The story trailer didn’t reveal much about the duo but since they’re grouped together, they might utilize an interesting swapping tactic. Apart from their carnival aesthetic, there’s no visible weapon or vision on either character.
Iansan is the featured character in the fifth act and she will appear in the region of Natlan. Although Natlan worships the Pyro Archon, it’s unclear what element or weapon Iansan will wield. Natlan seems to be based off of Aztlan, the ancestral home of the Aztec, which Iansan’s design seems to reflect as well.
Genshin Impact’s sixth act will feature Snezhnaya, the home of the Fatui and their Harbingers. Harbinger Pulcinella will make an appearance in this update and it’s implied that they brought Childe into the Fatui. Pulcinella’s appearance is shrouded in the trailer so unlike the other storyline preview characters, almost nothing is known about them.
The penultimate act features Khaenri’ah, a nation that is not part of the continent of Teyvat. Dainsleif is the featured character in this Genshin Impact act and he should be familiar to players as he has appeared in the main storyline. Unfortunately, while players were able to see his in-game model, no information about his weapon or vision were revealed.
These are characters that have made appearances in the story or are mentioned by other characters. While it’s not certain that they will all become playable in the future, they play important roles in the storyline which makes them likely candidates to eventually join the cast of Genshin Impact.
Baizhu is first seen in the main storyline of Genshin Impact as the owner of Bubu Pharmacy and the boss of Qiqi. He owns a talking pet snake named Changsheng but players discover little else about him. Baizhu is rumored to be a playable character in the future as the green jewel on his belt seems to signify the Dendro element, the only element not represented in Genshin Impact yet.
Yaoyao has not made an appearance in Genshin Impact yet but she does appear on official art and is mentioned by several other characters. She was originally Xiangling’s junior but she currently works as an assistant for Ganyu. Yaoyao’s outfit and design have sparked rumors that she will also be a Dendro user alongside Baizhu and her character model has appeared in leaks.
La Signora appears as an antagonist during the main storyline of Genshin Impact as the eighth Fatui Harbinger. During a quest, she freezes Venti’s legs in place leading to the assumptions that she will be a Cryo catalyst user. Though she’s an antagonist, fans think that she could turn into an anti-hero like Childe based on her final story interaction with Zhongli.
Scaramouche also appears as a Genshin Impact antagonist during the Unreconciled Stars event as the sixth Fatui Harbinger. Much like La Signora, his status as a villain means that it’s hard to guess whether he will eventually become playable. Nonetheless, his unique design appears to indicate an Electro vision and points to his addition in the future.
Genshin Impact is available now on PC, Mobile, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
