For much of its life cycle thus far, Call of Duty: Warzone has had a clear weapon meta of some kind. From the Grau 5.56 to the DMR 14, various weapons have dominated inside the battle royale — and Call of Duty: Warzone is now being ruled by the AUG and FFAR.
FaZe member and professional Call of Duty player NICKMERCS has recently shared his thoughts on the FFAR, believing that the gun will be nerfed in the near future. However, a recent video from the popular content creator sees him saying that he wants the same thing to happen to the AUG. While NICKMERCS has used the weapon himself during streams and videos, and even made a loadout tutorial for the gun, it seems like he is sick of its popularity.
Intriguingly, NICKMERCS was one of the streamers that called for the buff that made weapons like the AUG powerful. However, he believes this was a mistake on his part, adding that Raven Software has gone too far with the changes. Calling the new meta “broken” and “an ongoing issue,” the pro player describes the process of how a gun gaining too much popularity makes the game less enjoyable for everyone else. As shown with the DMR 14 and Bruen MK9 in the past, a weapon becoming too powerful could ruin the experience for those unwilling to use it.
This is not the first time that NICKMERCS has had to defend himself, as many pointed out that his loadout guides for the best weapons push players to use them more often. While he has argued that these overpowered weapons would be found by the community anyway, he does understand the complaint. That said, he does stand by his position on pushing for a buff to burst fire weapons — though he clarifies that this is only true to a certain extent.
While NICKMERCS did want to see guns like the M16 and AUG climb up the pick rate charts, he believes that the “difference” between his meta idea and what is happening now is the amount of time the guns stay at the top. Stating that he “wants it, just not for four/five months,” the popular Call of Duty streamer goes on to say that “a couple of weeks will suffice” for buffed weapons. A fair argument to make, NICKMERCS is one of several players that wants to see the meta changing constantly due to the sheer number of guns inside the game.
As of now, it remains to be seen when NICKMERCS will get his publicly requested AUG and FFAR nerfs, though past changes indicate that they will come eventually. However, with other Call of Duty: Warzone fans voicing complaints about TTK, the nerfs may be coming sooner rather than later.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
