Pokemon Journeys Anime Teases Sobble’s Evolution | Game Rant

Part four of Pokemon Journeys just landed on Netflix in the west, which featured the four-part Darkest Day arc that covered the climax of Pokemon Sword and Shield. However, over in Japan, it seems another development is about to occur. According to a translated synopsis for an upcoming episode, Goh’s Sobble, known as Messon in Japanese, could be about to evolve.

Since beginning its run in 2019, Pokemon Journeys has been shaking up the long-running Pokemon anime formula. Ash Ketchum now co-stars alongside Goh, a young boy who wishes to catch every Pokemon. For the first time, the series focuses on catching Pokemon as much as it does the battling.

Anipoke Fandom recently posted the translated episode synopsis, and it seems to suggest that Sobble will be evolving in the episode airing on April 16th. The synopsis is from CoroCoro magazine, which often contains new information about the Pokemon anime or games. Looking at the translation, it seems as if Goh’s Sobble will meet its final evolution, Inteleon, and through its admiration of Inteleon and its wish to be stronger and less timid, it will evolve into Drizzile.

Unlike every previous series of the anime, Ash does not own any of the newest regions starter Pokemon; instead, Goh has caught Scorbunny, Sobble, and recently Grookey. Goh’s Scorbunny has already reached its final evolution of Cinderace, and now it looks like it is Sobble’s turn to climb the evolution ladder. For Goh to obtain his goal of catching every Pokemon, it makes sense that Goh will need to evolve the three starters and, if he does, it will be the first time in the 24 year history of the anime that all the final evolution of the starters will be on a protagonist’s team.

Pokemon Journeys has proven to be a divisive series that has trended on Twitter multiple times due to events in the show. Sometimes the series begins trending due to its comedy, such as a Blaziken dropping out of a food eating contest. While the comedy in the show can be too much for some, it is in some ways reminiscent of the original Pokemon anime, which also had a fair share of comedic episodes.

Though the series has trended for much more controversial reasons, most recently, some fans of the series expressed their disappointment at Goh catching the legendary Pokemon, Suicune. While some praised the show for allowing Goh to catch a legendary as trainers can do in the games, those expressing their disappointment argued that it was too early for Goh to catch a powerful Pokemon.
