Rainbow Six Siege Sets Concurrent Player Record After Crimson Heist Launch

Many players are enjoying the newest update for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege known as the Crimson Heist expansion. This expansion introduced the newest operator, Santiago “Flores” Lucero, and a variety of other changes to the game itself.

While many were anticipating this update, it has since resulted in breaking old concurrent player records for Rainbow Six Siege. This new record had over 200,000 players actively participating in the game at once over this past weekend.

It is normal for large game updates to cause spikes in actively playing users, but this is the most Rainbow Six Siege has ever seen with a total of 201,053 players at its peak. A large contributor to this is that the game is currently running a free week until March 25.

After the free week is over, it is a definite that the amount of active players will drop. With this in mind though, it is unknown just how large of a percentage the free players made up for this weekend compared to players that had purchased the title previously. The free week, however, will also definitely inspire unsure players to buy the full game for themselves so that they can enjoy it outside of free week events.

While many are enjoying the Crimson Heist expansion, some players have already reported glitches involving drones and problems with the changes made to existing operators. As the game moves forward, the playerbase will just have to wait and see how Ubisoft will respond to this. With the state of operators ever changing though, it is very likely that more major operator changes will occur in the future.

Rainbow Six Siege is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
