Destiny 2‘s Season of the Chosen continues to deliver new content for players. Since launch, Destiny 2 fans have been able to participate in multiple Battlegrounds activities across a variety of maps, and have also been able to complete the Presage Exotic Quest to get their hands on the Dead Man’s Tale scout rifle. The latest content drop for Season of the Chosen adds a new Strike to complete, which has major Season of the Chosen story implications.
The new Destiny 2 Strike is called Proving Grounds, and it is located on Nessus. Players that have been playing Destiny 2 Battlegrounds regularly will recognize the beginning area of the Strike, as it was featured in the first Battlegrounds that was ever added to the game. To commemorate the Strike’s release, Bungie has released a new trailer that shows off some of Proving Grounds gameplay and sets the stage for the story.
In Destiny 2‘s Season of the Chosen, Cabal Empress Caiatl has asked the Guardians to assist her in fighting back against the Hive. Since the events of the Red War campaign, things aren’t exactly civil between humanity and the Cabal, and Caiatl’s insistence that Commander Zavala kneels to her has not done anyone any favors. A failed assassination attempt later, and the decision is made to send three Guardians to face Caiatl’s chosen champion in a Right of Proving.
The three Guardians in the fireteam represent some important Destiny 2 figures, including Lord Saladin, Osiris, and of course, Commander Zavala. Despite its heavy story implications, the Proving Grounds Strike is fairly straightforward from a gameplay perspective. Experienced Guardians should be able to complete it without too much trouble, though it should be noted that not everyone has access to it just yet.
At the time of this writing, only Destiny 2 Season Pass holders can play the new Proving Grounds Strike. Bungie has indicated that the Strike will be added for everyone in Destiny 2 starting next Tuesday, March 30. Until then, though, Season Pass holders have exclusive access.
Looking ahead, there’s even more for Destiny 2 players to look forward to. On April 13, the Iron Banner will return (it’s currently in the game now), and from April 20 to May 9, the Guardian Games event will go live. The Destiny 2 Guardian Games Closing Ceremony takes place May 7-9, and Bungie has teased that there will be “more” for Destiny 2 fans to look forward to during the Season of the Chosen as well. Fans will have to wait and see what that is, however.
Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
