Destiny 2: What The Izanagi’s Burden Catalyst Does & How To Find It

Izangi’s Burden is a very popular weapon among the fanbase in Destiny 2. Even after last year’s nerf, the sniper rifle still serves as a staple in many Gambit matches thanks to its boss killing potential. The ability to one-hit kill Invaders with a body shot is also a nice touch.

Odds are players will want to take the time to get the Izanagi’s Burden Catalyst. With the Season of the Chosen, doing this has become much easier and cut out a significant amount of grind. For players wanting the Izanagi’s Burden Catalyst here’s what it does and how to find it.

The Izanagi’s Budren Catalyst provides a perk called Peerless Edge. Peerless Edge does one simple thing:

  • Increase Honed Edge damage when four bullets are consumed.

Honed Edge is an ability where players can hold down reload to consume bullets to increase the amount of damage dealt with the next shot. The Izanagi’s Burden Catalyst provides a 20% buff to Honed edge’s 100% buff per bullet consumed. In this case, players are looked at an initial 400% increase followed by a 20% increase of the total damage. That’s huge damage!

The process of getting Izanagi’s Burden Catalyst was a lot more complicated in the Menagerie. But now in the Season of the Chosen, it’s a much simpler process. It’s a random drop that occurs when running playlist matches during the Season of the Chosen.

To obtain the Catalyst players simply need to play playlist matches until it drops from one of the enemies they kill. There’s no concrete data on what the odds of it dropping are. Some players have reported only needing to get a handful of kills and others are hundreds in and still nothing. It seems rare with no real way to increase your odds.

Once the Catalyst drops, players will need to upgrade it in order to maximize its potential. To do this players will need to defeat 500 enemies using Izanagi’s Burden. The simplest way to do this is to pick a farming area with low level enemies and go to town.

Admittedly, it’ll take some time as Izanagi’s Burden is a sniper rifle best-suited for Gambit. But it shouldn’t be too bad. Players may opt to simply incorporate it into their regular play, which is strongly recommended in Gambit matches. Either way, once the 500 kills are obtained the Izanagi’s Burden Catalyst will be ready to go.

As stated before, there’s no real way to ensure a drop or even improve the odds of a drop. The best thing to do is simply play the game and see if it happens.

For efficiency sake, players should consider pursuing some other activity and hope the Catalyst appears in the mean time. There are a number of other Catalysts that take some time to earn. Players might want to go after the Witherhoard Catalyst or perhaps chase down the Dead Man’s Tale Catalyst while they’re waiting for the Izanagi’s Burden Catalyst to drop.
