Players will have the chance to expand their Hitman 3 experience in late March with a seven part expansion that pits Agent 47 against the seven deadly sins. Hitman 3: Seven Deadly Sins is, as the title suggests, split into seven pieces, each embodying one of the Christian sins, and begins with Act 1: Greed on March 30.
Hitman 3, released on January 20th, is the eighth main installment in the series and the Seven Deadly Sins DLC will be the first expansion of the game since its release. In the Christian belief system the standard list of the seven deadly sins are pride, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, lust, and gluttony and the installments in the DLC will each fall into one of these categories.
The first DLC content pack, Act 1: Greed, and each pack that follows it, includes a new contract at an existing location and themed unlockable items relating to each specific sin. The roadmap for the DLC starts with Greed then moves to Pride, Sloth, Lust, Gluttony, Wrath, and will end with Envy. Players have the option of purchasing all 7 DLC packs through the Seven Deadly Sins collection for $29.99 or purchasing individual packs for $4.99 a piece.
It is important to note that these DLCs don’t add new levels to the existing game but instead reimagine existing places with a sin-related twist. As the World of Assassination trilogy comes to a close for the Hitman franchise, this DLC may be players last chance to experience this story arc.
Hitman 3 has received generally positive reviews and developer IO Interactive has a strong history of doing justice to the crazy world of Hitman but without new maps this DLC is going to have to do quite the reimagining to get players to spend their money. Seven new contracts and new unlockable items are a tempting offer for the roughly $30 price tag but each one is going to have to hit the mark in order for this to be a success.
That being said theHitman‘s maps are beautifully detailed and opportunities to eliminate targets are usually quite varied so it may not be a difficult task for IO to make a familiar place or map feel brand new and refreshed. Players who are already invested in the franchise and love the gameplay will probably think of getting this DLC as a no-brainer but for those who are feeling more cautious should perhaps wait for reviews before committing to Hitman 3: Seven Deadly Sins.
Hitman 3 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
