Newly Discovered Easter Egg Connects Uncharted 4 to The Last of Us 2

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End launched five years ago at this point, but fans are still making new discoveries in the game. One of the most recent Easter egg discoveries in Uncharted 4 is particularly interesting, as it further links the Uncharted franchise to Naughty Dog’s critically-acclaimed 2020 survival-horror hit The Last of Us 2.

Reddit user kheinrichs547, as spotted by GamesRadar, has shared a fresh discovery in Uncharted 4. In the game, players can examine pill bottles that, and it turns out that the bottles are from Weston’s Pharmacy. Fans of The Last of Us 2 may recall that Weston’s Pharmacy can be found in that game. However, diehard Last of Us fans will know that Weston’s Pharmacy appears elsewhere in the series as well. Commenters on the Reddit thread pointed out that there is actually a Weston’s Pharmacy featured in the Left Behind DLC for the original Last of Us game.

This is far from the first Easter egg that has seemingly connected the Uncharted and Last of Us universes. In Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, players can find a newspaper that hints at the cordyceps outbreak. And in The Last of Us 2, players can find an old PS3 with a stack of Uncharted games sitting next to it. There are other references between the Uncharted games and The Last of Us games, but it’s worth pointing out that older Naughty Dog titles get some nods as well.

One of the most famous examples of this is an early moment in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. As fans may recall, there is a moment in that game where Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher are hanging out on the couch playing video games. And the video game they choose to play is none other than the original PS1 version of Crash Bandicoot, the game that really put Naughty Dog on the map as a major development studio for the PlayStation brand.

There are some references to the Jak and Daxter franchise in Naughty Dog’s newer games as well. In fact, players can find Precursor Orbs hidden in The Last of Us 2 as well as the Uncharted games. These orbs are a collectible in the Jak and Daxter games and hugely important to their plotline, so it’s always neat whenever players stumble on them in games like Uncharted or The Last of Us.

While these are fun Easter eggs for diehard Naughty Dog fans, they shouldn’t be taken as evidence that the universes are connected in any meaningful capacity. The timelines for the Last of Us and Uncharted games simply don’t match up. Still, it can be fun for the community to find these kinds of things.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is out now, exclusively for PS4.
