Creative Valheim player discovers a clever way of building underwater

A particularly thoughtful Valheim player has managed to find a way to build – and do practically anything else! – whilst underwater.

“I discovered something amazing yesterday – you can build underwater (or do anything you are capable of doing above water) as long as your feet touch the ground,” says redditor AcanthisittaAny3260.

“For example – you can use 26° and 45° roof tiles or wooden beams to create a slope that will push you deeper underwater if you swim under it. If you are pushed deep enough so your feet touch the ground and are able to stay there, you will no longer be swimming (you will notice that your stamina bar starts replenishing) and will be free to use a hammer and build!”

This is a handy little trick for anyone eager to create big, functional bridges or create structures to cross bodies of water. Of course, you can always build bridges in Valheim the traditional way – this is just a nice quick way of dealing with what can sometimes be a fairly tricky situation.

We’ve also seen Valheim players dragging carts behind boats so they don’t have to build bridges recently – people will do anything to bypass doing it the proper way, apparently.

If you are keen on going for a little bit of ocean walking, be aware that it isn’t the easiest thing to pull off.

“Sometimes it’s a bit tricky because the camera hovers above the water you’re standing in, but your reach extends from your character so you can build on the ocean floor,” explains OP on Reddit. The embedded video above illustrates how you can best try to get yourself glued to the ocean floor for the sake of the trick.
