Every Map From Hitman 1 And 2, Ranked | Game Rant

The Hitman games have become a favorite amongst fans of stealth and assassination. The recent World Of Assassination trilogy has taken the game to a new level, presenting us with semi-open maps (graphically incredible) to explore.

Within each map, the main story of the game gives us a series of missions (primarily assassinations) to carry out in whichever way we see fit, which can include the use of the environment, NPCs scattered around the map, and pre-determined mission-stories. We’ve ranked the twelve (main-game) maps that make up the main campaign story of Hitman 1 and Hitman 2.

Updated on March 25, 2021, by Reyadh Rahaman: Each of these expansive maps holds numerous unique and interesting ways to dispatch targets in both hilarious or impressive manners. With so much variety in each level, as well as many challenges resulting in unlockables, there are tons of ways to hunt down one’s prey.

12 Colorado

The Colorado map on Hitman 1 is definitely the worst of a brilliant bunch. The beauty of the Hitman maps is their variety, and this map just doesn’t offer that. The majority of this one is set outside in the farmland scape of Colorado, and it simply doesn’t have the same variety that basically every other map offers you. It has the best plot twist ending of any Hitman map, but it forces you to view the same cinematic upon every replay, which gets tedious.

On this map, players can disguise themselves as a scarecrow to hide upon 1 of 6 scarecrow posts around this location, however, don’t do so while being watched, as it will upset the guards for some reason. Using all of the posts to hide will complete the “No Birds Here” challenge and can also be a fun way to knock out targets while hiding in plain sight.

11 Hawkes Bay

The concept behind Hawkes Bay is great, and as it is effectively the tutorial of Hitman 2, it can be let off slightly. However, it is still just too small and repetitive to land itself in a higher position. The vast majority of the map is just a sandy beach with nothing in it, and the main area could be a small chunk of a bigger map if placed elsewhere.

For patient players who wish to stealthily assassinate the main target in a way that even the victim won’t notice, here’s how to complete the “Sandman” challenge. First, follow the story objectives until the target arrives. Next, head up to the roof, take out the guards, and wait by the window above the target’s bed. When both she and her partner go to sleep, fire a round from one’s silenced pistol into her head to complete the challenge and possibly get a Silent Assassin rating.

10 Whittleton Creek

The idea behind Whittleton Creek is absolutely brilliant. It places you in the middle of a sunny, completely normal piece of suburbia. Very few games allow you to mix with absolute mundanity, but Hitman lets you do it here. Plus you get to uncover the secrets lurking in each house. But after a while of getting used to the simplicity, things get a bit boring.

To spice things up a bit, players should look around for things to do and challenges to complete, many of which are quick and easy to perform and can net bonus experience points. One such challenge is “Troll Toll” and can be completed by shoving someone into the map’s well.

9 Mumbai

The reason the Mumbai map from Hitman 2 takes a relatively low position on this list is simply that it is a map of two halves. You have the relatively uninteresting main areas of the map, which get old pretty easily.

On the other hand, however, you have a very cool underground area to explore, as well as a film set full of unique methods of murder.

One of which is to use a machine capable of powerful gusts to launch a target off of a building and will also complete the “It Was His Biggest Fan” assassination challenge. To do this, grab the “Bollywood Crew” disguise and head up to the huge fan on the film’s set to sabotage it with a screwdriver (there are many such tools scattered around the map). When the target stands in the path of the fan, use the nearby computer to increase the power and send them flying to their doom.

8 Marrakesh

The crowded markets of the Marrakesh map make for an interesting experience when wandering around locating the targets, but the fun of Hitman is figuring out your approach and trying your best to pull it off. Marrakesh just seems a little harder than many of the other maps, which makes it a bit jarring in the wider context of the game.

For an unorthodox way to eliminate one of the targets, grab the “Cameraman” disguise and then head into the tv studio with the green screen where an interview takes place. Be sure to bring the ICA Remote Explosive and place it into the camera beside the green screen (not the one on the tripod). When the target begins the interview and sits next to the bomb-filled camera, trigger the explosive remotely for a sneaky kill and to complete the “Drama Queen” challenge.

7 Bangkok

Much like Mumbai, the Bangkok map is a game of two halves. It might be incredibly beautiful to look at from outside of the hotel, but the masses of similar corridors within end up getting a little boring. The music studio, however, is a very unique setting from which to try and pull off one of the very satisfying, intense set-pieces.

In one of the challenge packs that were released, there is a pretty unique way to eliminate targets called the “Heeeere’s Johnny” challenge that references the famous line from The Shining, a film by the legendary director Stanley Kubrick. Agent 47 will have to kill 4 targets with a fire ax and have all of their bodies found, which can be tricky and risky, yet exists as a fun achievement to seek.

6 Colombia

Columbia is one of the largest maps in all of the World Of Assassination trilogy. This gives it a lot of variety, whether you’re wading stealthily through tall grass, wandering the grounds of the mansion, or immersing yourself in the daily life of the Colombians living in the village. The only bad thing it has going for it is that the actual possibility for carefully crafted kills is made harder by its size.

Assassins who enjoy karma will have a great time completing the “A Bite Out of Crime” challenge as it will kill a target who has warped a hippopotamus into becoming a carnivore. Firstly, find the hippo’s small pond near the mansion and take out the guard there in order to obtain their “Mansion Guard” disguise. Following this, pick up a piece of meat nearby and throw it into the water to get the hippo to come out of its dank cave.

Next, wait for the Hippo Whisperer to show up and knock them out before stealing their disguise and then toss their body into the water for the hippo to consume. After that, go meet up with the target and lead them to the hippo’s lair so that one can have a short conversation with them before shoving them into the water, which will cause the water-born beast to kill and eat their former master.

5 Paris

The idea behind the Paris fashion show map is another genius one from the creators of Hitman. Most of the map is densely populated and you’re able to get relatively close to one of the targets, but the game forces you to think a lot more about your approach than you might expect. On top of that, the map is filled with nooks and crannies that actually end up providing a huge amount of variety.

The “Showstopper” challenge in this map is probably one of the most impressively destructive ways to kill a single target and is definitely worth doing at least once. All that the player needs is the “Tech Crew” disguise and a crowbar to complete this one. After getting those 2 components, head to the area above the runway and wait for the target to appear below at the end of the show. While they’re talking, use the crowbar to break the winch holding up the extravagant chandelier and it will come crashing down to demolish the target, the room, and a ton of other people as well.

4 Hokkaido

Once you forget you’re actually in a glorified hospital, the Hokkaido map becomes somewhere you desperately want to actually visit for yourself.

You can sit in a sauna, wander the beautiful garden in the middle, and even do yoga; but at the same time, you can perform some of the most brutal kills Hitman 1 has to offer.

An easy and satisfying way to take out a target while doing a particularly chaotic run is to complete the “Don’t Look Down” challenge. This can be done by going nuts with firearms enough to get one of the targets to begin fleeing the area via the gondola. However, when they board this wire-traveling vehicle, simply shoot the wheels connecting it to the cable (the cable itself cannot be severed) and the entire gondola will fall down the mountain and become the target’s coffin.

3 Isle Of Sgail

From the picture that introduces the map, Isle Of Sgail looks like a small, bland place. When you make your way into the exclusive party landscape, you realize that it is actually one of the most sprawling, detailed maps the game has ever offered. Whether you’re taking a lie detector test and infiltrating a secret meeting of creepy individuals or gunning down huge crowds, it’s a masterpiece.

There are even some challenges that involve taking out NPCs that can be about as fun as hunting the targets. One challenge, called “Access Denied”, can be done with only the “Event Staff” disguise. After getting one, put it on and head to the area with the portcullis control (just inside the main entrance behind 2 guards). Next, wait for an event staff member to begin walking through the entrance and drop the portcullis to kill them and the 2 guards to complete this challenge.

2 Miami

Another brilliant idea for a map comes in the form of Miami and its F1 race. The sunny setting and bubbly atmosphere make you feel right at home, and the intensity of some of the set-pieces is fantastic. Whether you’re waiting for your mark to celebrate with the winner’s cup or teaching a robot to destroy its creator, it’s all brilliant.

An elaborate yet destructive way to eliminate one of the targets while they are driving their F1 car is to complete the “Days of Thunder” challenge. First, grab the code on the yellow sticky note in the security guard office (being disguised as a guard will make this much easier) and then use the intel on it to open the safe just outside the guard room but still within the security building. Within will be a carbomb that can be picked up, which will come in handy shortly.

After this, head to the pit crew area and acquire a “Kronstadt Crew” disguise in order to be able to interact with the target’s racecar when they come in for a pit stop. Simply head into the garage and place the bomb in the grey toolbox with the “Prepare for pit stop” option that is located near the garage door. Install the remote explosive and a cutscene will begin that shows Agent 47 placing the carbomb onto the back of the target’s vehicle. When the cutscene ends, activate the explosive with the remote trigger to blow up the target’s racecar and complete the challenge.

1 Sapienza

Of course, the greatest level in both Hitman games is the well-loved Italian paradise of Sapienza. It’s the most detailed map in the game, as well as one of the most beautiful places ever created in the franchise’s world- you want to go there on holiday from the second you stand up from your bench.

For a super-chill way to knock out both targets, players should seek to complete the “One Hit Wonder” and “Doubled Jointed” challenges, which are pretty easy to do simultaneously. Grab a “Housekeeper” disguise as well as a cannabis joint before heading into one of the upper areas of the main building and inside a large room where there is a cigarette pack on some boxes. Place the cannabis joint into the pack and wait for the targets to interact with it, which will (somewhat unrealistically) knock both of them out the next time each of them has a smoke. This doesn’t kill them, it simply makes them relaxed enough to be akin to the dead.
