Outriders Details Changes from Demo to Expect in Full Game

Following multiple delays, Square Enix and People Can Fly put together an Outriders demo for interested players to try out back in February. Incorporating the first few story missions and initial boss fight, the demo gives players plenty of freedom to experiment with all four classes, loot, and the RPG style skill trees. The demo period also seems to have helped People Can Fly as player feedback throughout helped further shape the experience.

In a surprising move, the Outriders demo received multiple updates over the past month, some to fix various bugs like the infamous inventory wipe issue, while others changed or improved functionality. Not only has the large number of downloads and active players helped the studio update its backend servers and systems to prepare for the April 1 launch, other feedback from players have helped shed a light on certain elements which may have gone previously missed such as the controversial cover system.

Over on the Outriders subReddit, the team has finally revealed all of the various changes that have been made to the launch version of the game thanks to things discovered player players from the demo. The list is quite extensive, prompting various threads to pop up for bigger discussions, but highlights include content bug fixes including certain perks on legendary gear not triggering as expected. There are plenty of balancing related updates as well for enemies, loot, mods, and more.

Crossplay and DirectX 12 are also being enabled by default for PC players, though for console players, crossplay will be added in a future update. The cover system has also been improved, though the specifics how how were not detailed. The day one patch also includes fixes for the reported frame-rate issues and camera shaking during cutscenes.

Beyond that, more recent issues that have been reported are already being prepped for updates coming after launch day. A few of these items have already been detailed including load time improvements on PS4 and Xbox One, co-op performance, additional controller adjustment options, and crossplay friends list and invite systems across all platforms.

With the game set for release next week and a slew of improvements on the horizon, Xbox players have an additional reason to check out Outriders. Earlier this month, it was revealed that Outriders is launching on Xbox Game Pass day and date with the other platforms. While the PC version of Game Pass isn’t included, many fans have taken this as a sign that this is the start of Microsoft’s continued push to ultimately end the aging Games with Gold program by continuing to make Game Pass more appealing and substantial.

Outriders launches April 1 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
