Super Mario 3D All-Stars is Already Being Scalped on EBay

Beware, for the scalpers are afoot. Super Mario 3D All-Stars will soon be delisted both digitally and physically, something that Nintendo fans are not quite happy about. The sad day for Mario fans is coming very soon, and scalpers are already taking advantage of it.

March 31, 2021, is the day the internet is talking about Mario dying, as games like Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Mario Bros. 35, and others are being taken offline to one degree or another. And while this is certainly a bummer, the idea that scalpers are jumping in to take advantage of the situation is even more unfortunate.

Scalping has been a major issue with the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, as the next-generation of consoles recently launched. And now the scalping problem has bled over into games like Super Mario 3D All-Stars. With the Mario platformer becoming unavailable after March 31, scalpers are already reselling the game at a higher price, including rates of $200 USD. While it is very unlikely that anyone will purchase the game today at that price, it is perhaps a sign of things to come. Soon the game will no longer be available for purchase through standard means, so the game will likely see a massive spike on websites such as eBay.

The very highly regarded Super Mario 3D All-Stars currently has an MRSP of $59.99 whether digital or physical. But it would not be a surprise at all to see that price sky-rocket on websites like eBay once the game is taken off of shelves. In most circumstances, scalpers are to be blamed and not sided with. But in this case, Nintendo is taking some heat from fans. While the term scalping is often used for someone who purchases an item that is high in demand in an attempt to sell it back at a profit, someone who resells a product like Super Mario 3D All-Stars once it is no longer available is simply taking advantage of a gap in the marketplace.

Whether it be weeks or years from now, there will likely be a buyer and a seller for Super Mario 3D All-StarsThe odd element is that the game is being taken off the shelves while the Nintendo Switch is still alive and well. Whether fans walk into a mom-and-pop video game shop or go online to eBay to purchase Super Mario 3D All-Stars, it is strange that that will be the only way to procure the game in just a couple of weeks.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is available exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
