With a new Strike mission arriving in Destiny 2 this week, some new triumph challenges have become available to complete. One of which requires Guardians to kill the numerous elite Cabal soldiers found aboard Empress Caiatl’s Land Tank in the Proving Ground Strike, including the Psion Optus Vocca.
So far, Proving Ground has been praised by the Destiny 2 community and formed a key part of this week’s Season of the Chosen narrative finale. Any players that are yet to run the Proving Grounds Strike should make sure they are caught up on this season’s story and begin working through the Challenger’s Proving VII quest, which involves completing Proving Ground and has a nice cutscene at the end.
A new triumph called “Eliminate Caiatl’s Cabal” asks players to hunt down 10 elite Cabal soldiers found throughout the Proving Ground Strike. These Cabal soldiers are a mix of enemy types including Colossi, Psions, and Centurions. To get these Cabal crossed off the list, players only need to contribute to killing each elite soldier and do not have to get the final blow or kill them solo.
While some are impossible to miss, such as Ignovun, the Strike’s final boss, other elite Cabal can get easily lost in the fray and killed very quickly by other Guardians, meaning some players may miss out on the chance to contribute to the kill. Given the large open spaces of the vehicle bay and power core areas of the Strike, which is where eight of the 10 elite Cabal are found, players may split up to cover the entire area, which will mean some players may miss out on killing certain targets.
Optus Vocca is a Psion enemy that is particularly easy to miss since they are very easy to kill, so other Guardians may kill them before players can do a little damage to get credit. When players reach the maintenance area and are trying to redirect the Tank’s power flow by carrying power cores from one room the next, Optus Vocca will be patrolling along the metal platform at the back of the room where the second power core spawns. Optus Vocca is not particularly dangerous or difficult to kill so any powerful special or heavy weapons will easily cut through them.
If players run the Proving Ground Strike a few times and are leading the charge into each room to find these elite enemies as quickly as possible, they should have this triumph completed in very little time. Otherwise, it is possible to do in one run of the Strike, provided players are willing to take their time with coordinated fireteam members that will call out when they find one of the elite Cabal so that their teammates can all contribute to the kill.
Iron Banner has returned this week for its second appearance in Season of the Chosen, so Crucible fans should get bounties and play some matches to get the reprised weapons. Meanwhile, this week’s Nightfall: The Ordeal Strike is The Arms Dealer, which can be cheesed for an easy Grandmaster level completion.
