If one were asked to describe Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot‘s season pass in just one word, odds are that word would be “confusing” or something similar to it. Since it was first revealed before the game released in January of 2020, players have constantly been left with more questions than answers. Now over a year later, it seems as though almost everything about the once enigmatic season pass is finally revealed, with the only thing fans are waiting on now being a solid release date beyond “Summer 2021.” Alongside this, it has now been reconfirmed that this third DLC will be the final one for the game, meaning no second season pass.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot‘s first DLC introduced the events of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and allowed players to tap into the power of a Super Saiyan God. Moving on from there, DLC 2 told the story of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F, giving Goku and Vegeta access to Super Saiyan Blue. The third DLC isn’t continuing this trend and venturing into Dragon Ball Super content, instead opting to take a step back and tell Future Trunks’ tale.
In the tweet below, it says in no uncertain words that DLC 3 is “the final DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, indicating that this is in fact the end of the game’s run. Naturally, players will always be able to go back and replay story missions with the time machine or engage in Card Warriors content, but in regards to paid DLC that adds a substantial amount of content, it seems like this is it.
Although it has been stated before by Bandai Namco that DLC 3 would be the final one, there’s been some confusion about what that means. Obviously it is the final DLC in this season pass, but some fans thought there might still be a second one. In truth, there’s no way to truly know whether a second season pass will release for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot or not, but at the very least it seems like there are no plans for that right now.
To say it has been a bit of a bumpy road to get to this point would be an understatement, but fans do seem genuinely excited to see Future Trunks’ story play out. This is a tragic tale that is much darker than anything else that Dragon Ball Z has to offer, so hopefully it lives up to both its own reputation and its role as the final DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
