Rust: Console Edition Gets Release Date | Game Rant

After months of teases, it’s officially been confirmed that Rust’s long-awaited console port will launch on May 21. The game will debut on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, bringing the acclaimed online survival experience to new audiences this summer.

The announcement came after developers Facepunch and Double Eleven debuted a new trailer during Microsoft’s recent ID@Xbox showcase, offering yet another look at the multiplayer game’s upcoming console ports. Following the virtual event, the team announced the official release date for Rust’s new versions and revealed players can pre-order them on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting today.

Both ports are available on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store in three different editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate. The Standard Edition will set players back $49.99, and includes the base game and the “Future Tools & Weapons” skin pack. As for the $59.99 Deluxe Edition, it will feature everything in the Standard version as well as the “New Cobalt Employee – Welcome Pack,” the ability to play the game 3 days early, a closed beta invitation, and Public Test Branch access. Finally, the Ultimate Edition will cost $79.99 and comes loaded with everything already mentioned alongside both the “Elite Combat” skin pack and “Ultimate Welcome” pack. It also throws in an additional 1,100 Rust Coins.

For those who never played Rustit’s an online survival game that places human interaction at the heart of the experience. Players will need to team up to survive in the game’s dog eat dog world, building shelters, finding resources, constructing weapons, and defending their turf. The dynamics players form as servers slowly embrace faction-based warfare has made the game a hit on Steam, where it still amasses chart-topping sales to this day. Console owners have been asking after PlayStation and Xbox ports for years, and luckily, it seems the wait’s almost over.

Microsoft’s ID@Xbox showcase brought several major surprises today, including the reveal of new Hello Neighbor 2 gameplay, a closer look at STALKER 2the announcement of a wholesome fishing game known as Moonglow Bay, and a fresh look at Luis Antonio’s time-bending indie drama, Twelve Minutes. Microsoft has lined up an array of hard-hitting indie games, with several of the showcase’s most prominent titles making their way to Game Pass in the future. STALKER 2 will crop up on the service, as well as She Dreams Elsewhere and Nobody Saves the World, the new game by the creators of the Guacamelee series. In the meantime, players can look forward to getting their hands on Outriders when that hits Game Pass next week.

Rust is available now on PC, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions launching on May 21.
