STALKER 2 Developer Video Highlights Impressive Character Models and Faces

The upcoming post-apocalyptic first-person shooter STALKER 2 has garnished a lot of attention since its big reveal last year. Developer GSC Game World has been awfully quiet about its next-gen entry in the STALKER series. Fans excited to get the very first look at STALKER 2 gameplay has to wait a little longer, but today’s dev highlight at the Xbox indie showcase gives a glimpse of some of the weapons and characters players can expect while exploring its desolated and atmospheric open-world.

STALKER 2 is shaping up to be one of the most visually impressive titles on the next-gen Xbox ecosystem. The recent in-engine gameplay teaser of the game highlighted what a graphical powerhouse STALKER 2 could be. Rain-soaked crumbling interiors of post-apocalyptic Russian buildings and windy desolated woods form the premise of STALKER 2’s eerie open-world.

STALKER games are known for their survival gameplay elements and STALKER 2 will be no different. While fans now have an idea of what STALKER 2 would look like, they haven’t had a chance to see what tools they will have in their arsenal to survive this grim-looking world. Thankfully, today’s dev highlight showcases some of the weapons players will come across in the game. There are more than 30 different weapons in the game, with each gun having multiple modifications and upgrades attached to it. Some of the guns showcased in the video are hunting rifles, LMGs, Sniper rifles, etc. All the weapons are intricately crafted, with high-level textures that reflect the wear and tear they have received.

The latest dev highlight also provided the first look at some of the factions players can expect in STALKER 2. The Freedom and the Duty are two of the many factions players will come across in STALKER 2. Aside from having polar opposite perspectives, the character models of both factions are vastly unique and appropriately reflect their vibe and personality.

The most interesting bit of information from this STALKER 2 development update comes from the highly detailed character model shown at the end of the dev highlight. Aside from having realistic facial textures for each of its characters, STALKER 2 uses a custom teeth tool plugin that ensures that every character in the game has a different smile. It’s important to add that all of the weapon and character models showed in the video are still work in progress and can change as the game’s development progresses. As such, players should keep their expectations in check.

The Xbox ecosystem is brimming with incredible second-party titles, and STALKER 2 seems to be one of them. STALKER 2 is also set to launch day one on the Game Pass, though no release date has been confirmed yet.

STALKER 2 is currently in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
