Fan Art Imagines How Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate Will Look

Pierce Brosnan has just been cast in the upcoming DC film Black Adam, causing much excitement for fans. Not long after the announcement, a fan shared art depicting how Brosnan could look like as his character, Doctor Fate.

The next in the line of DC superhero films, Black Adam will be starring Dwayne Johnson as the titular character. Filming was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is finally ready to go into production. Following several other exciting casting announcements, Pierce Brosnan joins Black Adam as Doctor Fate, one of the founding members of the Justice Society of America.

Doctor Fate is the alias of Kent Nelson; the son of an archaeologist, he was taught sorcery by Nabu the Wise and gifted a mystical helmet, amulet, and cloak. These mystical items are included in the fan art by BossLogic depicting Brosnan as the character. As seen with several versions of the comic book character, the cloak, and helmet, as well as his boots, are gold, while the rest of the costume is black. The art also depicts Doctor Fate as hovering and practicing sorcery.

Doctor Fate helped found the Justice Society of America, a DC superhero group separate from the Justice League. He will be joined in the Black Adam film by other members of the JSA, including Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, Cyclone as portrayed by Quintessa Swindell, and Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher. The Old Guard‘s Marwen Kenzari will also be part of the cast, but what character he will be playing has remained a secret.

Overall, there are few plot details available about Black Adam, other than the inclusion of the Justice Society of America. Star Dwayne Johnson recently shared a glimpse at the first page of the script, which reads, “Well I’d love to wear a rainbow every day and tell the world that everything’s okay, But I’ll try to carry off a little darkness on my back, Till things are brighter…I’m the man in black.” The words are a tribute to the renowned song titled “Man in Black” by the late singer Johnny Cash, and Johnson says that this gives DC fans an example as to who Black Adam is in the superhero universe.

Black Adam will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who recently worked with Johnson on Disney’s Jungle Cruise film, with an initial script written by Adam Sztykiel and revised by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. The film was initially meant to be released in December 2021, but this seems unlikely with production on Black Adam only just beginning. Fans have a while to go before they get to see Brosnan, Johnson, and the rest of the cast in action.

Black Adam will be released on a yet-to-be-announced date.
