In 2018, a heartwarming anime series named Laid-Back Camp aired. Based on a manga of the same name, the anime ran for 12 episodes and then disappeared for a while. In 2020, it saw a resurgence with both a live-action adaptation and a series of shorts under the name Heya Camp. Since then, both the Laid-Back Camp anime and the live-action drama have been renewed and started airing second seasons. Now, a new video game adaptation has also been revealed.
Laid-Back Camp is officially coming to consoles, according to an announcement made Saturday morning, but that’s about all the information that was shared about the Laid-Back Camp game. The only other official detail that has been confirmed is it’s being made by Mages. Mages is best known for its visual novels, including Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes, Memories Off, and more.
As for Laid-Back Camp, while the genre of the game may not be known there are probably some assumptions that can be made. Laid-Back Camp is half an anime about teaching camping ideas like pitching a tent, gathering firewood, and cooking. The other half is about making friends and sharing time with one another. Whether the Laid-Back Camp game is a visual novel or more of a slice-of-life sim, those themes will likely carry over.
For the time being, there’s no information regarding when Mages will share more information about its Laid-Back Camp game. If interested players want to know more about Mages, however, it has two games releasing on Nintendo Switch on May 14 named Famicon Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicon Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind.
Laid-Back Camp is in development for consoles.
