Apex Legends Players Discover Way to Enable Third Person View in Firing Range

Apex Legends strictly utilizes a first-person point of view while on the ground. However, it appears there is a way to get a look at the Apex Legends world using a third-person POV, if only in a very specific setting.

As is the case with most games like the team-based shooter, the more people who play it, the more people who discover little quirks and tweaks built into it. For the most part, these Apex Legends tricks tend to be new ways to take down an enemy. Sometimes it’s about finding a way to use one of the characters’ specials in a way few people saw before. Until very recently, no one had found out how to put the game in any POV other than first-person, that’s officially changed.

YouTube user The Boogeyman is among the first to share the way to get Apex Legends to display in the new point of view. The one big caveat is that for now, this trick only works when users are in the firing range. Once there, players will need to get their character to one of the corners of the map. From there, users need to grapple to the champion banner on the right side of the level. Then, players need to swing to the ledge that stands directly behind the banner.

Once on the ledge, there’s a small bush users need to go stand in. This is in the far right corner of the Apex Legends map, if done correctly. Once in this spot, the character must be put into a crouch stance.

Once in the crouch in the right spot on the map, the player should change what character they are using. If all of these steps are carried out correctly, the user will get an audio prompt. That prompt tells them they are about to go into the third-person point of view. Not long after that, it becomes obvious users are viewing the world from a new POV. It’s important to note that it appears the player’s inventory must also be empty in order for the process to work properly.

Originally, Apex Legends users believed the trick was a glitch in the programming. However, Dexerto reported that one of the game’s developers, Jason McCord, who goes by the name MonsterClip responded in a thread about the oddity with a pair of side-eyes emojis. The response was taken by quite a few in the community to mean that the dev team put the trick in there, on purpose.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
