Monster Hunter as a series has always been about killing huge monsters to then use their material to craft stronger, more advanced weapons and armor. Monster Hunter Rise is no different, as players will eventually need to get their hands on a material called an Electro Sac, and for those that are wondering where to get it from, this guide will help folks out.
Electro Sacs have a rarity level of 4 and the game describes them as “a monster organ that can store up electricity, which is released on impact.” One of the easiest ways to get Electro Sacs is by fighting against one of the returning flying wyverns in the game, the electrifying Khezu. For players that are doing the single-player Village quests, they need to first complete quests until they have access to the 3-star quests. Once they do, they should go on the quest titled Faceless Foe to face off against Khezu in the Frost Islands of Monster Hunter Rise.
Khezu’s threat level is only two stars, which means that players shouldn’t have many issues defeating it during the quest. If gamers check out the Hunters Notes after fighting Khezu a few times, they’ll see that Electro Sacs can be awarded to the player as Target Rewards, Capture Rewards, and as a carved material. There’s an 18% chance to get it by just killing the monster; if players capture the monster with a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap, that gives them another 18% chance to obtain the item; and lastly, if players kill Khezu and carve it, there’s a low 15% chance to get the Electro Sac.
So, for players that really want this item for that Khezu armor set, capturing this beast will be the best way to get those items as quickly as possible. For those that don’t know the steps to capture a monster, it works exactly the same way as it did in Monster Hunter: World. Players will need to bring two things with them into battle: one type of trap and at least two Tranq Bombs. Once a monster has been weakened enough, a blue icon will pop up under its image in the top-right corner, letting players know that it’s ready to be captured.
Place the trap near the monster and once it’s fallen in, this is the time to throw two Tranq Bombs at it. Once that’s done correctly, the quest will be completed, and players will not only get the Target Rewards, but they’ll also get special Capture Rewards. It’s always worth capturing a monster instead of slaying it, as there are usually rarer rewards to get.
Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch. A PC port is expected for early 2022.
