Monster Hunter Rise is a sizable game. It is an open-world RPG, after. Like many other open-world RPGs, there are a handful of things about this game that isn’t easily found. These secrets, easter eggs, and hidden features are a reward for those who are keen, observant, and adventurous.

10 Free Items Inside A Nest

While in Buddy Plaza, the player can head to the shrine to find a tree behind it. The player can climb this tree using the vines around it. Once done, they will reach a Cohoot Nest. Inside this nest are valuables and rare items ripe for the taking.

What’s even more incredible is that the players can return to this location after every hunt and they’ll find new items to loot like consumables, various armors, and more. All of it for free!

9 The Control Options Reference The Previous Games

The Monster Hunter games have been around since 2004. Since then, there have been a total of six titles, and that doesn’t include the spin-offs. With time, come changes. For the Monster Hunter series, the change doesn’t only come in quality of life, scale, and graphics, but also in controls.

There are a couple of control options in this game and they closely resemble the control styles from the previous Monster Hunter games. For example, the control type 2 closely resembles the controls to Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.

8 The Relic Records

The Relic Records are collectibles in Monster Hunter Rise. There are quite a number of them in this entire game, 10 in each map, to be exact. Many of the Relic Records aren’t easy to spot or reach, but trying is incredibly fun because of the game’s smooth traversal mechanic.

These relics offer lore information about the game’s world. On top of that, these collectibles can be handed to Kagero in Kamura Village in exchange for decorations for the player’s house in this game.

7 The Cracked Wall In The Flooded Forest Temple

The Flooded Forest area is a very beautifully designed level. Add the temple in this level to this fact and it’s made even more incredible. Atop this temple, there’s a cracked wall the players can encounter. The player can use barrel bombs to destroy this cracked wall to reveal the contents inside.

Once destroyed, the player will be able to loot a secret scrap inside. There’s also an endemic life the player can capture.

6 Hidden Cat In The Player’s Room

Who doesn’t love furry companions? Especially cats? Those who share this sentiment will be absolutely delighted to learn that there’s a hidden furry in the player’s house. This little cat’s name is Fukashigi the Informant and it can be found hiding behind the poster near the housekeeper.

This cute little thing will offer the player insights about the game’s world, characters, and even tips the players can use on quests. The players will also learn a lot about the game’s lore by interacting with this cat.

5 Enemies Now Respawn

In previous Monster Hunter games, if the player wants to farm, they will need to leave and later return to a certain area after they’ve gotten rid of the enemies there. In this game, however, the player will no longer have to repeat this cycle.

The player won’t have to leave an area anymore for certain monsters to respawn. This is very useful for farming. Interestingly, this also works for fishing. No longer do the players need to leave a fishing spot to capture more fish.

4 A Secret Passage Near The Camp

There is a tent the players can enter near the camp. This is very useful considering entering camps will refill a player’s HP, refill consumables, resharpen weapons, and removes negative effects. There’s also a pitfall trap at this camp so the players should watch out for that.

Those who want to return to the Mizutsune area right away after this won’t have to travel far anymore while they’re at the camp. On the left side of the camp, there’s a passage that leads directly to the river to Mizutsune.

3 Secret Mountain Passage

Traversing and exploration are some of the many things that make a Monster Hunter game so much fun. However, it can also take up so much of a player’s time if they want to reach from point A to point B and there’s no fast travel point nearby.

This is definitely the case for the mountain in between Area 8 and Area 4. Thankfully, instead of going around the mountain, there is a secret passage inside the player can use to slide downwards and run upwards.

2 Mural On Top Of The Training Area

The Training Area is a very useful place the players can consistently visit to learn how to use new weapons and familiarize themselves with them. The area itself is also very gorgeously designed. It’s almost as if this area isn’t only a place for the player to train with their weapons but also with the game’s traversal mechanics, and that’s exactly what they should do.

Once the player is at the top of the training area, they’ll spot a mural hidden behind a waterfall. The mural is depicting a battle of some kind. It is yet unknown what the mural signifies, but it is placed there for a reason and those willing to explore are able to discover this secret for themselves.

1 The Option To Pet The Palico And Palamute

If the player is given the option to pet their animal companion in a game and they don’t, that’s not okay. In all seriousness, this is something the players can do in Monster Hunter Rise, but the option to do so isn’t exactly taught to the player.

While idle, the player can use the Switch’s D-Pad to switch to the “Wait” command. The player can then approach their Palico or Palamute and the option to “pet” them should appear.
