In a new blog post, Treyarch revealed some of the new features coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War as part of its Season 2 Reloaded event. The blog post gives thorough details on what players can expect, including new features, maps, and a round of weapon balance tweaks.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the most recent entry in the Call of Duty series, bundling together a flashy campaign, all-new multiplayer, integration with Warzone, and a new Zombies Outbreak mode. Like many modern games, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has timed seasons with associated battle passes and drops of new content throughout. It is in the middle of its second season, with a “reload” on the way that promises to bring with it new game modes, cosmetics, features, and maps.
The recent blog post gave a lot of detail of what will be available when the event starts, and what will be added later on. One of the highlights is the return of the fan-favorite Gunsmith Customs feature. The feature allows players to mix-and-match attachments from weapon blueprints of the same gun that they have unlocked. This allows players to combine the unique attachments, like colored laser dots and tracer rounds, to make a loadout that is more unique and personalized. The blog post also details changes such as weapon balance updates, a new Cold War Hardpoint mode that pits ten teams of four against one another, competitive Gunfight tournaments, and two new maps joining the popular Prop Hunt mode as well as new props being added to the maps already in rotation.
The additions are all very welcome, with the new Hardpoint variation being a real surprise that should bring plenty of chaotic gameplay for those who want it. The addition of new maps to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and tweaking the weapon balance should also help the game maintain its player numbers by keeping things fresh.
The addition of Gunsmith Customs is a safe bet, as it was a very popular feature in the series’ previous title, Modern Warfare. With the reload of season 2, Cold War continues its streak of adding solid content and listening to player requests at a steady rate across its various modes. The blog post also has plenty in it for other modes, including updates for Zombies Outbreak, new items coming to the store, and a much-needed file size reduction for Warzone and Modern Warfare.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
