Dead By Daylight: 10 Pro Tips For Playing As Legion | Game Rant

Horror fans love Dead by Daylight for its scary take on the 4-versus-1 cooperative genre. After all, this time, teams of four Survivors need to outlast terrifying Killers based on popular horror film stereotypes. In this celebration of the slasher subgenre, Dead by Daylight fans should love Legion. This masked entity represents the “killer gang” villain trope in horror films.

However, aside from the trope, some Legion players might find it difficult to use the character. After all, its Perks and Loadout do seem a bit technical compared to other Killers. However, players with a knack for timing might realize they can master Legion quite easily.

10 All About Generator Pressure

Unlike other Killers in Dead by Daylight, the Legion excels specifically when it comes to pressuring the generator objective. Essentially, the Legion prefers staying near generators to pursue Survivors to the point of discouraging them to pursue generators in their presence – or risk getting caught.

Courtesy of the Feral Frenzy Power, the Legion can chase down Survivors near each other. Moreover, with the constant threat of Deep Wounds, Survivors will be forced to abandon their generators or risk dying due to untreated wounds. The Legion’s presence puts Survivors in a tough spot, as teamwork will risk revealing all of their location to the Killer.

9 Feral Frenzy Is All About Speed

In their backstory, the Legion is composed of four friends who got themselves wrapped up in murderous business. They soon discover that determining who lives and who dies is a kind of freedom they can relish in – and this is the core of their Feral Frenzy Power. At its core, Feral Frenzy enables the Legion to move much faster (5.2m/s) to chase Survivors and gain access to two abilities.

Under Feral Frenzy, the Legion can do a Feral Vault. This allows them to do a swift vault (0.9 seconds) to any Window or Pallet – perfect for pursuing targets. Its other ability is Feral Slash which, if it connects with a Survivor, sets Injured and inflicts Deep Wounds. This status triggers Killer Instinct, allowing the Legion to detect all Survivors without the Deep Wounds state inside its Terror Radius. In addition, Deep Wounds forces players to find healing within 20 seconds or reduce to the Dying State.

8 The Generator Hunt Is On With Perks

Alongside the Legion’s Power are Unique Perks associated with their focus on generator pressure. Their most notable ability is Discordance, where Generators within a certain range will emit a yellow Aura and prompt a Loud Noise notification if two or more Survivors start repairing it. Discordance, combined with Feral Frenzy, makes for a mean show-stopper against Survivors.

Meanwhile, Mad Grit helps the Legion suffer no cooldowns on missed attacks while carrying Survivor, and hitting another one will pause the wiggle timer of the carried Survivor. Lastly, Iron Maiden not only lets the Legion open Lockers faster but also give them the Exposed status for half a minute.

7 The Split Is The Disadvantage

As players might notice, the Legion’s Power and Unique Perks encourage them to stay as close to many Survivors to mow them down quickly with their Feral Slashes. In turn, Survivors facing the Legion know that they simply need to stay clear of its line of sight and split in order to work on Generators simultaneously. That way, a Survivor will always improve on the progress of one Generator.

Interestingly, despite this glaring disadvantage, this also means the Legion players should know this gap in their inherent strength. As a result, they should be wary of players who will use their numbers as Survivors as an advantage. After all, despite being a group of four, the Legion only has one body.

6 Perks Need To Close The Gap

Given the Legion’s inherent weakness in terms of chasing down separate Survivors, players need to focus on closing the gap and slowing Generator Repair as often as possible. In turn, players might want to switch their starting Perks when using the Legion for a match. For starters, Hex: Ruin is a great deterrent to Generator Repair progress. As long as its Hex Totem is standing, Ruin will boost the speed of repair regression if it’s not being actively repaired.

Meanwhile, Thanatophobia will give a Totem-Cleansing, Sabotage, and Repair debuff to Survivors for everyone else that’s Hooked, Dying, or Injured. Lastly, Sloppy Butcher boosts the bleeding frequency of Survivors hit by successful attacks. This Perk also bestows the Mangled Status to the hit Survivor, slowing their healing time.

5 Slow Survivors Make Them Easier To Chase

As mentioned, given how the Legion excels in deterring Generator Repair progress, its best strategies often revolve around slowing players down. to stop them from making meaningful progress with their Generators.

For instance, Deep Wounds via Feral Frenzy immediately forces Survivors to heal themselves first and get away from their Generator. In turn, Hex: Ruin kicks in and speeds up repair regression – again, giving the Legion more time. Additionally, Thanatophobia’s debuffs will force players to prioritize healing themselves rather than focusing on objectives. This should give the Legion enough time to roam around the map and eliminate the Survivors, even if slowly.

4 Camping Away From Generators Is Dangerous

What about camping? Surely, a lot of Killers can score kills if they wait, right? For the Legion, not necessarily. Its Feral Frenzy compensates for the fact that it has a relatively slower-moving speed compared to other Killers. This means they take a bit longer to chase Survivors, meaning there’s a small opening for another Survivor to get to a nearby Generator and spot repairs.

Instead of camping in a random spot, the Legion should always keep their eyes on nearby Generators. This allows them to effectively switch from watching one Generator at a time and catch the Survivors unaware.

3 Keep Generators A Turn Away

Unlike other Killers, the Legion doesn’t specialize in chasing Survivors. If a Survivor does the fortunate job of taunting the Legion, this leaves enough room for the others to start repairing Generators quickly. With that in mind, the Legion shouldn’t focus on chasing Survivors for too long.

Instead, they should try to stick close to a particular Generator while keeping close eye to the others. That way, they can easily switch directions if a Survivor somehow gets close enough to repair a Generator. Moreover, their speed in switching directions make them a constant threat to Survivors trying to get a repair done.

2 Patrol All Generators As Frequently As Possible

While it’s a great strategy to chase Survivors to secure the kill, the Legion should probably focus on defending their objective first. Regularly patrolling around the Generators would slowly deter the progress of players as they need to avoid the Legion. Essentially, this encourages the Legion to keep an eye on one Generator after the next to ensure Survivors don’t add relevant progress to their repairs.

Likewise, the Legion should make abrupt “returns” to their previous Generators. That way, Survivors can’t guess any patterns to the Legion’s routes, and the Legion may even spot a roaming Survivor off-guard.

1 Never Reach The Endgame

Despite the Legion’s strengths in attacking and taking care of nearby Survivors, this strategy works best during the early game to the midgame. If Legion somehow ends up staying until the endgame, then Survivors may flip the advantage against them. By the time players get to repair the last generator, it’s almost game over for the Legion.

However, this doesn’t mean the Killer can’t have anything up his sleeve. If the Legion isn’t confident in securing the match before the endgame, they can try to focus on eliminating the Survivors before they clear the last Generator.
