Halo 5 Forge Used to Recreate Star Wars Tatooine Sunset

The Forge mode in Halo 5: Guardians has been used to create some pretty incredible things. The newest addition to this list comes in the form of the famous Tatooine sunset scene from Star Wars in Halo 5.

Forge mode allows players to make custom maps, game modes, and screenshots using the game’s assets. With an in-depth physics system, customizable map options, and a lot of scripts, players have been able to do things like recreate the Halo Infinite demo. It stands as a testament to Forge’s power and popularity that there are still new creations being made now, six years after Halo 5 released.

Games industry artist and YouTuber Mojo Swoptops recreated the iconic double sunset scene from Star Wars using only Halo 5‘s Forge tools. The video showcases a lot of ingenuity using the tools in Forge, including using a soccer ball to make the dome-shaped house. The rest of the structures are sculpted using small odds and ends connected to each other, and are accurate to the ones in the movie. The video provides a breakdown of how it was accomplished, including a look at the world settings used to achieve the fog and lighting, and one could be forgiven for confusing the screenshots with an official Star Wars game.

For Halo fans, there are plenty more examples of great things players have made in Forge, including recreating Destiny bosses or adding Halo 5 Pokemon battles. The Forge mode has been a highlight of the Halo series since it was first introduced in Halo 3, and promises to become even more advanced and impressive with the release of Halo Infinite on next-generation consoles. While 343 Industries has not released much news about Forge in Halo Infinite, its presence in the game has been confirmed, as well as the inclusion of a highly requested undo and redo functions.

It is cool to see what creative things fans can make when given the proper tools from developers. From the huge library of Skyrim mods to map creation in Far Cry 5, these sorts of game modes breathe new life into games and help keep some fans engaged long after they have seen everything else it has to offer. With the release of Halo Infinite going straight to Xbox Game Pass on both consoles and PC, it is in a great position to build a large community around its Forge mode, which will likely lead to plenty of amazing creations such as this one in the future.

Halo 5: Guardians is available now on Xbox One.
