Justice League Fans’ #RestoreTheSnyderVerse Campaign Hit Big Milestone

Most people keeping track of the hype surrounding Zack Snyder’s Justice League will now be familiar with the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse social media campaign. Even before the film was released on HBO Max on March 18, fans were urging Warner Bros. to allow Snyder to complete his vision for the universe he created. A week after the film’s official release, the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse hashtag has exceeded over 1 million tweets.

Most DC fans will be aware that Warner Bros. has no plans to release the planned Justice League trilogy, with the studio confirming multiple times that Snyder is not a part of future DCEU movies. Snyder himself has confirmed in past interviews that the studio has no interest in Justice League 2, but that hasn’t stopped fans from asking for the story to continue.

The Discussing Film Twitter page confirmed with a screenshot that #RestoreTheSnyderVerse has been used as a hashtag over a million times, when it was trending worldwide, with some tweeps even stating they had seen the trend cross the 1.5 million mark in just 24 hours. The release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League on March 18 has had fans flooding social media with messages about the SnyderVerse. But, on March 25, the 1 million tweets milestone was achieved, which could be an intentional choice for fans to voice their opinions, as it also happens to be the five-year anniversary of Snyder’s previous DCEU movie, 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The Snyder Cut was created for the fans. After last-minute reshoots were ordered by Joss Whedon, Justice League received a makeover of sorts and did not match the tone that was set by Snyder in the previous two DCEU films. Since its release, fans started demanding the release of Snyder’s original cut of Justice League, spending over two years campaigning online. While #ReleaseTheSnyderCut turned into one of the most used hashtags among DC fans, an online petition on Change.org was signed by thousands of supporters. Their pleas were eventually heard by Warner Bros. and on May 20, 2020, the Snyder Cut was officially announced, a victory for all DC fans.

Early reviews for Zack Snyder’s Justice League were mostly positive towards Snyder’s cut, and since its release, the movie has garnered an exceptional response from fans, with most convinced that it is a far better cut than its predecessor. With the film ending at a cliffhanger, and leaving several stories incomplete, fans now want a chance to see how the SnyderVerse would have taken the stories of their favorite heroes forward.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is now streaming on HBO Max.
