Monster Hunter Rise: Where to Get Big Fin | Game Rant

Monster Hunter Rise is all about defeating large monsters to get rare materials in order to craft stronger armor sets and weapons. Occasionally, though, there will be times when players will have to hunt down the smaller, more docile monsters in Monster Hunter Rise. These small creatures are the ones that players will mostly avoid in the five biomes of Rise, but some of them have important resources within their bodies, such as the Delex. For players out there looking for some Big Fins, this guide will show you exactly what you need to know about collecting these items.

Delex are essentially desert sharks that move in squads of 4-5 around the Sandy Plains locale in Monster Hunter Rise. However, they can only be found in two areas of the biome, area 9 and area 10. The monsters will be seen “swimming” around the desert areas, and need to be killed in order to be carved for materials. For Delex, there’s a 40% chance that players will find a Big Fin item from carving it, which isn’t too bad of a percentage compared to other rarer items. If players have bad luck with finding the Big Fin, they can simply leave Sandy Plains and then come back, either via a quest or an expedition.

Carving the Delex is done the same way as any other monster in Monster Hunter Rise. Simply defeat it and then once it’s dead, carve its body with a press of the A button. By going to areas 9 and 10, players should be able to get their hands on at least 8 or 9 Delex, so finding a Big Fin or two shouldn’t be a hassle at all, unless the RNG gods aren’t playing fair.

One of the big differences between Monster Hunter: World and Monster Hunter Rise is that, for the latter, Capcom has made it slightly easier to obtain the materials needed to upgrade weapons and forge armor sets. It respects the player’s time, and especially since this is sort of a handheld game, completing objectives needed to be a little quicker for this latest entry.

Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch. A PC port is expected to release in early 2022.
