Call of Duty: Warzone Insider Claims New Map Will Be Available In 2022

A Call of Duty: Warzone insider just shared some interesting information in regards to a new map for the massively popular multiplayer game. A fresh map is apparently on the way for the dominant battle royale, but for this specific map, perhaps not quite as soon as some would have anticipated.

Fans are anticipating a new map for Call of Duty: Warzone in the very near future, and that will likely still happen. But one insider seems to have information on a 2022 map that is in the plans even after the next Warzone map, and the details are quite intriguing.

Tom Henderson believes that Call of Duty: Warzone will be receiving a World War 2 based map in 2022. The idea that a new map is on the way is not new, as the rumors have been flying that Call of Duty: Warzone will receive a new map sometime soon after a nuclear bomb destroys the current one. But Henderson’s point about the map joining the rotation in 2022 is a bit unusual initially, because it would appear that fans would have to wait a long time to play a new map after all. However, he follows up the tweet by mentioning that the WW2-themed map that will join Warzone has nothing to do with the new map that will be a part of the game in April, which certainly relieved many fans.

The WW2-themed map makes a lot of sense, as it would be in line with another integration (much like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War) with Sledgehammer’s Call of Duty: WW2 Vanguard, which is apparently the leaked name according to reports. With that in mind, the integration would allow the new map to be WW2-themed, along with the weapons, gear, etc. According to Henderson, the new map is to be smaller in scale, much like Rebirth Island.

Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed, but it sounds like a good idea if it were to hold true. With a new map being available in 2022, a plan is starting to become clear for fans of Call of Duty: Warzone. Essentially, each new game receives an integration update and those guns, perks, and gear. Soon thereafter, a new map that is based on that new game is also added to Call of Duty: Warzone as well, and then a few months later a core new map is also added to the game. At least for the foreseeable future, this seems like a plan that could work. The problem is that Call of Duty: Warzone integration issues were mishandled according to many fans, and if that happens again, many will not be happy. Perhaps a solid plan is in place, but the execution may leave room to be desired.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
