Monster Hunter Rise: How to Beat the Final Boss Narwa | Game Rant

Monster Hunter Rise brought many new monsters into the series, with more presumably coming with future content updates. Two such monsters are new Elder Dragons, one of which serves as the final fight of the Monster Hunter Rise. For now, that is.

If players have made it to the final fight, then they have already had to beat Ibushi the Wind Serpent. While Ibushi was fought in a rampage style quests, his “goddess” Narwa, is a more traditional fight. That being said, there are a few elements of the fight that are reminiscent of the Rampage quest type.

When players first start the hunt, they are given the traditional cutscenes when entering a new area and encountering a new monster. Regarding the former, the final fight does indeed take place in a completely unique area, the Coral Palace. This is kind of par for the course at this point with significant hunts being set in their own locations, like Alatreon in Monster Hunter World being fought in the Secluded Valley.

Before starting the quest, eating for thunder resistance is recommend to avoid getting thunderblight during the fight. Though in Monster Hunter Rise, players can actually continuously roll to get rid of thunderblight. Players should bring good weapons with ice or dragon element as those are the elements Narwa is weakest to.

When players first load into the new area, they’ll be presented with a prism spiribird that will max out their health and stamina. This actually makes the fight relatively forgiving given the massive health pool hunters have. Grabbing a farcaster from the supply box is also recommended. Regardless, once players have grabbed any items they need from the supply box and tent, and have grabbed the spiribird, they should head over to the main part of the arena.

Narwa’s attacks are actually fairly methodical and are either quite well telegraphed or they are slow moving, giving players a chance to avoid them. One of the major things to keep an eye out when fighting Narwa is that when she raises rocks from the ground and/or into the sky. These can help hunters avoid the oncoming attack or they will have cannons or ballistae on them, similar to those found in Rampage quests, that can be used to attack Narwa temporarily. Players will need to use the wirebugs to pull themselves up to the rocks. Often times the rocks can be used for offensive and defensive means.

Several of Narwa’s attacks also involve expanding electric rings that either have to be woven through, blocked by rocks, or jumped over. Players can outrun them if they’re far enough away from the point where they start, but it’s a safer bet to walk through the center of the hole or jump over the horizontal rings with the wirebugs.

Sometimes Narwa will lift rocks with armaments into the air and begin charge. She needs to be attacked with said armaments and knocked out of that animation or she’ll performs some powerful attacks. With the elevated health from the spiribird, they should be survivable, but players will want to heal ASAP if they get hit.

Wyvernshot and the dragonator will also be available throughout the fight so timing those properly to make sure Narwa is hit, is key as their use is limited. When using standard weapons and the armaments on the rocks, hitting Narawa in spot where she is glowing is typically the best bet. This is often her stomach if she’s charging an attack or attacking. The purple spots on her arms are also often a viable option. Sometimes she brings up two rocks and puts her tail between them and rests her stomach on the top rock. If players can get to the top rock quick enough, they will want to do so to attack her stomach, otherwise the tail will do. Gunners can avoid a lot of the gimmicks of having to climb on rocks to attack Narwa, but generally getting on the rocks is still better because it puts hunters in a more optimal position closer to Narwa’s weakpoints.

Narwa has one move where she causes electric explosions across the battlefield. This is probably one of the harder attacks to avoid, and it can’t be wirefall’ed out of if players are struck by it. However, the recovery animation for it is so long that there’s actually quite a few invincibility frames. So players are likely going to be safe when getting up, but choosing when to get up should still be done wisely.

Making sure their health is topped off should be a priority to hunters because even though most of Narwa’s attacks are slow, they can be very hard hitting. This is why the farcaster is helpful. Players can use it once (provided they don’t have their own before the hunt) to fast travel back to camp in the middle of battle to restock. Having crafting materials in their inventory and item crafting mapped to the radial menu will also help as players can instantly turn any potion materials they have in their inventory, into more potions. For example, having 10 potions, 10 mega potions, 10 honey, and 10 herbs, effectively gives players 20 potions and 20 mega potions if they map the crafting potions and mega potions functions to the radial menu.

With enough artillery shots and enough standard attacks, Narwa will fall and players will have completed the story content currently in Monster Hunter Rise. As with any other monster, players can hunt Narwa over and over again to get materials to make her weapons and armor.

Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch. A PC release is slated for 2022.
