Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town – Should You Get The Season Pass?

Last week, Xseed Games and Marvelous Entertainment finally released Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, a farming simulator game that combines traditional elements of the genres alongside some modern features from newer games. As expected, Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town received warm reviews from players, given the nostalgic and relaxing gameplay that gives players an escape from the real world.

However, players should note that the developers of Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town also released an Expansion Pass, which will bring tons of new content to the game over a period of five months. It is worth noting that the Expansion Pass will set players back by $19.99, which is why some are still hesitant if the additional purchase is worth it. However, given the repetitive nature of the game (which is normal for a farming simulator), the Expansion Pass is certainly a good investment given all the new content players will get.

One of the biggest aspects of games such as Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is romance and marriage. Although a good chunk of the game will be spent on tending to one’s farm and livestock, players will be able to woo any available bachelors and bachelorettes, with marriage being the end goal. In the base game, players can choose from 5 bachelors and 5 bachelorettes, and the good news is that players can pursue any one of them regardless of their character’s gender.

However, players who own the Expansion Pass will receive six additional marriage candidates in the game. In the Windswept Falls Expansion Pack to be released in May, the game will add Felicity and Neil from Harvest Moon 3D: A New Beginning as marriage candidates. In June’s Terracotta Oasis Expansion Pack, Raeger and Iris from the first Story of Seasons game will join the roster of marriage candidates. Lastly, August’s Twilight Isle Expansion Pack will see Ludus and Lisette’s return from Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. Of course, those who already have their eye on an existing marriage candidate may opt-out of the Expansion Pass. However, those who want to expand their dating pool should definitely pick up the DLC.

Apart from additional marriage candidates, Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town’s Expansion Pass will also include new storylines, items, and locations for players to explore. In April, players will receive the Olive Town Mystery Files, which will have players join Mikey and Cindy to investigate strange incidents in town. In May, the Windswept Falls Expansion will feature a brand new area. Lastly, the months of June and August will also open two new locations that players can explore in the game.

Throughout the duration of the Expansion Pass, players will receive several unique items from costumes that can be used by the player character and any of the marriage candidates. As a bonus, players who purchase the Expansion Pass will immediately receive the protagonists’ costumes of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town and Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. Overall, the Expansion Pass is a must-get for fans of the game, given all the additional marriage candidates it offers and new locations and storylines that will bring new experiences to players.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is out now on the Nintendo Switch.
